If you're certain that the letter is not for you, simply cross out the name and address on the front, write "n/k at this address RTS" next to it and put it back in the post. No stamp required.
In that case,JJ, I would simply write "Not known at this address" on the front of the envelope and put it in the postbox with no stamp. There's no reason why you should pay for someone else's mistake in addressing the letter in the first place.
