Very strange. Ms Stevens was one of the MPs who voted (by a ratio of six to one) to grant the electorate its referendum. Now the result is evident she believes it is a terrible mistake. So, OK to let the little people have a vote - provided, of course, they vote "correctly" !

MPs of all parties should vote how their constituents voted in the referendum.
They are in Parliament to represent their electorate, so if they voted Leave, they should vote to invoke, and if they voted to remain, they should vote not to invoke.

Putting the 3 line whip on MPs, who represent areas that voted to remain is barmy. The Labour Party should have a free vote, but be obliged to vote the same way as their voters.

Corbyn couldn't lead a pack of Girl Guides, and this is another example of his poor decision making.

Whether that's right or not (and I happen to believe it's not but it doesn't really matter) there may be a small difficulty. The results of the referendum were not declared on a constituency basis. Any declaration that a particular constituency voted one way or the other is based only an a guestimate.

Jo Stevens constituents voted 60% to Remain. So she should be free to properly represent the views of her electorate. Making her support Brexit when her constituents are against it is undemocratic, and Corbyn is a fool for trying to make his MPs support something that some Labour voters disagreed with.

In most constituencies it is clear cut. Cadiff voted Remain, so Cardiff MPs should adhere to that.
My own area, represented by 3 Labour MPs voted to Leave, so they should support the invoking vote. But all 3 of those MPs are Remainers and may vote against their constituents wishes, which is wrong.

Leave won the Referendum, so if MPs in those areas vote the same as their constituents, then invoke will win. Two thirds of MPs were Remainers, but Leave won, so it is MPs not properly representing their electorate that may cause a bill a problem.
