Hi Wharton. As you know the Glasgow dancing scene, two quick stories.
My friend XY was asked by shy pal to "ask up" girl he fancied. He reported back that she was boring, bit posh, etc. Forget her. Undeterred, Shy Pal asked her up and went on to marry her. XY often wondered if Shy Pal ever told Mrs Shy Pal what the best man (XY !) had once recommended...
A female friend was at dancing with her friend, who knocked back a nice but plain-looking guy. He tried again, and knocked back for a third time later, he asked politely: "Who are you waiting for? Rock Hudson?"
- "No. But no' Dracula neither!"
We can be friendly folk in Glasgow, but brutally honest too.

Long to be cupid's pal
And always cheerful...[Sorry it don't rhyme...]
BilSuth - That made me laugh. I was a neighbour of Lulu (Marie Lawrie) in Glasgow when she was a go-go dancer in the Lindella Club in Union Street, if you were looking for brutal honesty....:-)
It rhymes well enough for me cupid pal, goodnight and God bless xx
Hi Wharton. She became Dennistoun's pride and joy after she was "discovered" by ?? (a D/Express music writer whose name escapes me). The stories I related were from the late "Magic Stick" and probably the Flamingo, not the Barrowland nor the late Palais, which became a supermarket and is now flats.
