when I had hubby ill and two dogs & a cat I used to get up at 6am daily and give the house a thorough clean before anyone else stirred. Now its just me & the cat, I do minimum daily but when I know visitors are coming I do a thorough spring clean the day before, in case they think I am a lazy moo. Anyone else do likewise ? my pet hate is dusting, whats yours on the home cleaning front ?

What is dusting?
Only familiar with ironing
I do the minimum housework I have to - I know it's not recommended, but I can't see the point of it. I dust when I must, I clean the stairs, and hoover when I can - OH has just cleaned the fluff of the rug with the bottom of his shoe.... I do the bins, I wash up, I launder. Life's too short to have a showhouse.
..I don't iron, scorpio.
...and I really don't care what anyone else thinks, they know what I'm like before they come.
Any housework gives me the pip these days with my arthritics. I can string out the vacuuming for a week :)
I only vacuum with the hand vac to clear up cat litter thrown enthusiastically out of the box.
My pet peeve is how judgemental many people are about one's home. I like basic cleanliness but am not at all upset about a touch of untidiness. So the floors do get cleaned, but not daily, mainly when they come to my attention and I have the inclination to address the matter. The thing about housework is that you could do that and nothing else all day every day and still the dust will continue to settle. My especial dislike is emptying the vacuum cleaner.
I detest housework, I only do it when I really have to.

Except ironing, I don't mind doing that as I can watch the telly at the same time.
I've 3 SIL's who are so houseproud they make my teeth itch.
I've rebelled and am the opposite of them.
My home is lived in :-)
Depends what I'm cleaning.

I get satisfaction from polishing the bathroom then I get a bit annoyed when someone uses it...

My house is quite minimal so dusting etc doesn't take long.

The one thing I hate doing is changing the beds.
My favourite quote from Quentin Crisp :::

"There is no need to do any housework at all. After the first four years the dirt doesn't get any worse.
I hate it with a passion. I'd like to know who made the 'rule' that everything had to be done once a week?
If it shows, I clean it, if it doesn't then I don't. As for windows and ovens, well..
hate cleaning the oven ,also before i joined answerbank i was quite house proud lol.
Good news after 2 years dust doesn't get any deeper, so the pressure is off lol.
aha, mally, another one who has had the help of Answerbank to get life into perspective :-)

Housework is over-rated, we come on here to help people and ask our own questions :-D
Before I retired I was a demon house cleaner...now it can wait until tomorrow :o)
I'm sure it was Boxy who once mentioned 'if you must write in my dust, please don't date it'

I've strived daily to live up to that.
I wish I could find a new cleaner.........

It is definitely a case of not looking too deeply into the corners at cake Castle these days :-(
I have no strict routine because I never feel like housework nowadays.
When I'm expecting friends, family around, then I put a spurt on.
I admit --I hate houswork. AB comes before housework!!! lol
