On Sky News this morning, his Chancellor, George Osborne was said to have ducked and dived in a Q and A session regarding child benefit and winter fuel payments, it is thought that the latter will now only be paid to the 66+ pensioners and not 60 as it is now, the child benefits will be reduced for the 2/3/4 child or more, which tbh cant be a bad thing, this may or may not stop the young girls going on to mass produce often with a different father each time.
It appears the elderly and the young are always the soft targets, why not the fat cats and the MPs contribute to the austerity cuts we are about to have? and catch up with the Tax evaders who don't pay a penny in revenue here....because the old and young don't shout so it's an easy option?

when Ben was born 14 weeks early , my daughter was told by a health visitor, she must claim mobility allowance as he was on oxygen for the first year of his life, she is a qualified dental nurse and my sil has his own painter/decorating business, they said an emphatic No but she insisted they got it, £200 per month the got which they put to one side as they said they would probably have to pay it back, the time came to stop it , she made at least 50 phone calls insisting it be stopped, almost begging them to, it went on and on till eventually she went to confront them and like has been said, there wasn't anything in place to pay it back...ludicrous!
bobbi...LOL
so lining the pockets of shareholders of argos or asdas by buying presents with the heating allowance? it should be a cheque made out to their power suppliers and they can then spend other money but not the benefit thats for the heating.

xavier I said that Benefit Britain came in with new labour, not the welfare state!
Bobbi, you start by complaining that benefits are to be cut and calling for 'Fat Cats' to be targeted, and then contradict yourself by agreeing with what most of us here are saying. I'm confused. I'm not quite sure where you're coming from with this.
What do you mean Naomi? How is paying more out than he has coming in?

Savings....

I do tell him he can't take it with him and it's not like his kids need his money, or want his money, but I do understand why he feels the way he does. He's worked hard all his life...he didn't retire until he was 68...and he's saved and saved (my poor Nan....lol) and he doesn't get a penny in help.
i think you will find maggie thatcher put many miners on benefits and even more shipyard workers. were you here in the late 70s and 80s

what I am saying naomi is how DC has backtracked on a pre election promise which was televised?
I don't agree with the Benefit system anyway and it should be means tested as I have already said, but they refuse to do that!
umm isnt there a cheaper home he could saty at? or are they all the same price? i dont have anyone in that position but maybe the heating money thats used for xmas presents and holidays could be rerouted to your grandad?

Xavier I come from Tyneside where those mentioned cuts were bloody savage
Ummmm, that's disgraceful. THIS is where the money should be going - not to the lazy bu&&ers who won't work and expect everything for nothing.
Xaviour...he's not in a home. My Nan is....she has dementia. No, we can't find a cheaper home because the home she's at look after her really well. I think £450 a week is about the going rate anyway....

He then has to pay for his home care who come in twice a day. He needs these because he had bowel cancer he sometimes suffers from incontinence. He doesn't want us having to change him if he has an accident....
I think some of the huge salaries and bonuses are bound to wind people up particularly when the country is facing major cuts in public services. What is often ignored is, with the exception of those who are non doms or have squirreled money away off-shore, the huge majority of so called fat cats pay tax at something close to 55% on their income when income tax and national insurance is taken into account. These people spend money which goes into the economy providing jobs in manufacturing and services.
apart from the ones that send all their manufacturing to china and all their services to India eh McMouse

And are domiciled in Jersey or the Isle of man as tax havens

And who earn fat sallaries off of public funded projects like weapons or computer systems etc. etc.
Oh and few of them pay 55% tax because they arrange it in dividends so that it only attracts capital gains tax

There was once a Thatcherite policy called "trickle down" - does anybody remember.

the idea was that you gave big tax breaks to fat cats who'd plough all the money back into the private sector economy.

They wouldn't put it into Swiss bank accounts, german cars, foreign holidays and off forign countries

Guess what.....
Jake I'm talking about the many thousands of people who work for corporations and fimes based in UK. They earn huge amounts and pay tax here. Yes there are tax exiles but relatively few compared to the many thousands who are not.
who earns money from weapons ? the church of england does. it also invests in companies in america who make porn. theres no morals left in england today its all about the money. bobbi sorry to hear that but maggie started the massive devestation of entire areas of england.
Yes McMouse but most of those are still drawing large proportions of their income as stock options and dividends which attract more beneficial tax rates.

Things which are not open to most people who work for them.

It's a case of one rule for some - one rule for the rest
the church of england in 2005 had an investment fund of £2.5 billion. do they still pas the collection plate round?
The middle classes do not need child benefit or winter fuel allowance. I am glad they are talking about taking it from them.
