In a Poll in today's Independent, only 24 per cent of voters believe the recession would have ended sooner if the Tories had been in power, while a massive 69 per cent do not.

Not really what the Tory leader wants to hear 3 months before a General Election. Is the the form to overturn Labour's 151 lead or will voters vote against Labour anyway regardless of not have faith in the Tory's Economic Policies?

Is it not just possible that recessions and growths are economic cycles that are not affected by the govt that happens to be in power at the time?
This might then explain why they are often global and don't just happen in one country where a particular govt might have an effect.
Therefore blaming this or that political party is like p1ssing in the wind.

That might be true, but whoever is in charge at the time tends to get the blame, whether the recession is a Global phenomenon or not.
Well its a lefty poll so I wouldnt read too much into it. Spin spin and more spin from labour or lets translate that properly as lies lies and more lies.

Labour twisted what was said, which intersetingly came from a loaded question from Browns Braodcasting Corporation.

Cameron does need to be more positive and lay out what they are going to do, although of course this is awkward (alos for the libn dems) as they probably do not know the real state of the books. One can only imagine.

If labour dont cut back as they say then we will loose our AAA Credit rating. That will be the begining of the end, we will never recover and most likely will go broke.

Additionally if labour get in or it is hung business investment into the coutry will decrease dramatically. No one wants to invest where they may be heavily taxed - labour or where decisions cannot be made - hung
That's true of every poll, it's no good highlighting only the ones you like.

The poll was for 'The Independent' newspaper, not the BBC.

It is not know to have a left wing bias as you suggest.

The Tories cannot say 'we are going to make serious cuts' one day, and then the next day say 'we won't won't make serious cuts'. To pass that off as 'we haven't seen the books' is a flimsy excuse.
