Any Sympathy For Mr Galloway?

"Respect" MP George Galloway claims to have been sexually abused at the age of 11 by a school janitor.

Given the extremely controversial and, some may say, "reviled" figure that he is, does anyone have sympathy for him? Could that be what made him what he is today?

Or did he "get" what he "deserved"?

Exactly vinny.

Paraffin you do seem to have some bizarre ideas of whats deserving for an 11 year old.

Very strange indeed.
Who hasn't.....of our generation?

I got 'touched-up' by swimming instructor at 5, exposed to as a brownie & often as a teen, forced intercourse by bf - me in wrong place at wrong time just move on - ALL water under the bridge & life's experience! Certainly made me a stronger/aware/wiser person. IMHO

But did you deserve it tamborine?
Paraffin has put up several contentious posts recently.
All then become 'don't shoot the messenger' or 'I was trying to provoke debate'...................quite later on.

I think he likes to see who will bite and why............
No child deserves to be abused, whether physically, emotionally or sexually. If he was abused it may have some bearing on the way he is now.It did become 'fashionable' a few years back to excuse character traits by claiming childhood abuse had occured though,so I do view these claims with a bit of cynicism now.
I think Paraffin has something to say but won't voice it until he sees what the rest of us think.
no Gromit - I was in wrong place. wrong time. Sex is human nature and some ppl have less control of their urges - particularly men, IMexperience.

Am not about to expose their weaknesses now and destroy them.

I have clearly confused people as to my "motives" or otherwise for the exact wording of this post.

Let me be totally clear on my own views:

1. Personally I admire George Galloway for daring to be different in the field of politics. He is a maverick politician, always has been, and seems to attract controversy wherever he goes, whatever he does or says. But I like his pugnacious style and can empathise with it. After all, have I not been known to hold controversial views on some of the AB threads?
Yes, of course, but I reserve the right to argue my corner for them.

2. I totally abhor "kiddy fiddlers" and happen to believe that this is one of the offences for which capital punishment should be reintroduced.

3. I have already given the reasons as to why I couched the post in the terms I did, and because I am of the view that AB is to enable us to pose questions and stimulate debate, not necessarily to have to give one's own opinions within the question.

Two very long "dig a deeper hole" replies.
as an irish citizen not too interested in UK politics or peoples beliefs yes I have sympathy for him as i would anyone that was abused as a child. I work with abused children on a daily basis and see first hand the damage and hurt in can cause. So no mattter who or what he is or bellieves in yes he has my sympathy for what he went through.
not read any of the posts but FGS what 11 year old deserves that?
paraffin, you could be accused of being such a sicko for even suggesting that.. in fact IMO you ARE a sicko for suggesting that an 11 year old "deserves" child abuse. omg I am now gonna shut up,
You are quite right, pinktwink. Anyone that went through any form of abuse gets my sympathy. But the original question was Did he "get" what he "deserved"? Poor choice of words which is why paraffin has been slated.
I dislike Galloway intensely but he didn't deserve it.
Adolf Hitler was physically and relationally abused as a child, did he deserve it?
If you watched the alleged docu drama "Hitler, The Rise Of Evil" starring Robert Carlyle you'd be led to believe so.
I like Galloways show on talksport and some of his alternative views - but suspect that his personal child abuse claim has surfaced rather late in his very outspoken political career to be taken too seriously. He is more than a little partial to publicity.
olddutch, when would have been a good time for him to start talking about this abuse?
-- answer removed --
agree sara it can take people years to talk about the abuse they suffered and some never do . I admire his courage , perhaps he never fet able to talk about it before.
To everyone who has jumped down paraffin's throat on this one, I say this.

If you take a look at the original question, you will see the following symbol throughout - '?'

It's called a 'question mark' and it is used to illicit a response, often to get someone's views on a particular subject.

It does not mean that the person using the 'question mark' is making a statement. Nor does it mean that there is a hidden agenda or that some 'reading between the lines' is necessary.

Paraffin has explained his position twice now and I am in no doubt as to his views on this matter. If anyone is still confused, I think his statement (ie. a sentence that does not end in a 'question mark')...

I totally abhor "kiddy fiddlers" and happen to believe that this is one of the offences for which capital punishment should be reintroduced.

... is about as unambiguous as it is possible to be.

Does paraffin need psychiatric help?

Was paraffin dropped on the head while a baby?

Is paraffin interested in this because of being a paedophile?

Note: these are only questions, so that's ok, yeah?
