Recently we have endured beheadings of innocent civilians in Iraq, people downloading images of said beheadings on the internet for entertainment, wars, conflicts & tension all around the world in the name of religon, Bush re-elected as USA president, I have to ask is the world going mad, bad or both?

People do tend to have a need to see bad/terrible things. I am not sure why you would want to but they do. I haven't felt compelled to watch it online, mainly because it's of no interest to me. I can imagine the mess and the gruesomeness of it all and I don't feel that watching it would benefit me or indeed entertain me.  Some people have wicked humor/taste some people need darker things to entertain them  I feel that with the things we see on tv and in films and the fact that information and images of this nature are so widely available to us is the reason for this.  If this 'day & age' technology was as available as is it is now say 30 years ago - there would still be a group of people interested in watching this.  That is my opinion anyway and I don't like Bush either but thats it now it is done and they have to live with him for a while longer.
I don't think that the world has suddenly gone mad, I just think that people are more open to what they want and are not ashamed or scared of letting people know.
No, the World hasn't gone mad or bad (if it is mad/bad now then that's because it always has been).  The World is no worse a place than it was 30 years or 300 years ago.  If anything, for most of us its much, much better.  The main reason why stuff seems so bad these days is simply that we all have much more access to stories & images of these things.

It is only the bad stuff that gets the publicity though.  There may be more good stuff going on but it's not publicly known about.  I think that there has always been sick people in this world but now they have extra ammunition from media attention on things like Ken Bigley and they are probably more likely to act on their psychotic instincts.

Yes. Hope this helps.

I think that this is a complex question, and demands complex question. I consider myself a fairly normal family man, but also felt compelled to seek out and watch the footage of a beheading on the web. It made me feel quite sick, and I have no compulsion to see it again. It did however, make me think of an experiment. Take 100 people all of whom believe tat the war on terror is unjust, put them in a room - show them the video of an innocent beheading by one of these extremist groups, then see how many opinions hold firm.
