Even more thoughts:

You wake up in the morning, shower, shave, put on a clean shirt, tie, smart suit, nicely polished shoes, put on your overcoat and get into your car for work. You arrive relaxed, get out of the car and some female, idiotic, adolescant, Neanderthal throws green custard in your face because she diagrees with your thinking............and people can justify that?
And another thought:

Before that incident I had no time at all for Mandy, but now, because of his dignity in this matter, I have taken a liking to the guy...........still don't agree with him, but he came out of the incident, the better.

P.SHeathrow is a total shambles.
Couldn't agree more with sqad617

Because of the sheer dignity he showed over this matter, he came out of it a better guy.

Perhaps all those on here who thought it a great laugh, would have also got even more enjoyment out of this affair, if he had done a 'John Prescott' and punched the woman in the face?

Then perhaps not, but I must admit I would have done so, seeing that she is most likely to get away scot-free.

I think the idea that assaulting a public official going about his business is really appalling, regardless of anyone's personal opinions on the individual concerned.

The idea that it is OK to throw custard over someone simply because this climate harpie has some bizarre idea that her 'protest' will mean anything is frankly barking. Added to that she proceeded to insult Lord Mandelson personally through the media, which again is way out of order.

We are lucky enough to live in a democratic soceity with freedoms which should not be abused in this way. How does assaulting someone (apart from being 'amusing' further the debate about climate change?

The thinking that yhou can assault someone simply because you disagree with their media-based image is seriously sinister. Where does it end? As Clint Eastwood's 'Dirty Harry' character pondered over thirty years ago - "Next you execute your neighbour because his dog wees on your lawn ..."

It was a stupid childish offensive pointless piece of gross misbehaviour, and the woman should be charged with assault, and made to clean graffitti of public buildings as a punishment.
andy......every night before I go to bed, I kneel at the side of the bed, put my hands together and say"Please Lord make me like andy-hughes"...............and after a short while there is a booming voice from above..........WHO?

Seriously though, you write very well, areyou a journalist?
Thank you squad - yes I am.

I work part-time as a music freelance writer, and I am (hopefully everything crossed) going to get a post working for my employer's (BT) staff newspaper which will make me a full-time writer.
andy.....aaarggh!!! thought so.......keep up the good work.
Bizzarre how some people here think that it is an assault to throw green custard over someone. Assault in my book is to utter profanities, be blasphemous or actually hurt someone physically. Mandy was not hurt in any way. He may not have been amused yet many others were ;-) + no actual harm was done. Very strange how some AB's are on their soapbox about something so trivial in the scheme of everything. A Zimbabwee Prime minister's wife Susan Tsvangirai, aged 50(mother of 6)was killed- on purpose- opposstion hoping to actually kill Morgan Tsvangirai himself ,yet, when do you think justice will actually occur for Morgan Tsvangirai or Zimbabwee ,yet people are getting their knickers in a twist about some green custard?!! Puts everything into perspective really!! Bea :-)

Beatrice35. It is not funny to go round throwing green custard at people. It is very childish as are those who agree withl it. As mentioned in several replies to this thread, it could easily have been something more sinister like a gun or bomb or knife. Would it have been so harmless then? You and your ilk should grow up and find something more adult to amuse you rather than green custard being thrown at someone. How hilarious for you!!!
beatrice...come on, I could enumerate 1,000 incidents going on at the moment much worse than the custard incident, but that makes it OK then, does it? Semms to lack logic to me and the "knickers in atwist" comment seems to be totally inappropriate, but hey, I respect you opinion, surprises me, but do not accept it.
As I mentioned before, I was no fan of Lord Madelson, sympathised with climate change, but now I have revised thoughts and opinions.
One can have many types of "assault" other than physical.
What is more bizarre Bea is that in your "book" assault does not include various actions which constitute common assault in English Common Law.

How does your version include verbalisation and physical violence but completely miss out any number of acts that fall between speaking and touching? Of course launching a missile (be it solid or liquid - or perhaps both in the case of custard) at another person without their consent may fall within the scope of an assault.
Again another mindless act of pointlessness against an MP. It kind of debunks what they are protesting against and doesnt inspire you to shoulder with them on a political standpoint.
Mandy said I suppose in a democracy people are entitled to have their say. Did the people vote for him . Was he saying the people may live in a democracy but not necessary have a right to have their say .Wondering

I dont know if you have young kids or not .

If you have / did - Answer me this - would you say to them that it is ok to go out on the street and throw something into a passerby's face ?
weecalf

People in a democracy have a right to peaceful protest - not to assault another , because in this instance , she oppose the policy of the party he represent .

The ballot box is there - use it to remove the government , if you disagree with their policy

Mandy,s mate gordy wont let us remember .
Stupid girl....great example for her kids - who will grow into thugs with such a mother.

Our free 'bus-pass' folk spend their days exploring T5 and get free fresh cream cakes - & made very welcome!
How he became a government minister or how this mickey mouse government were elected in the first place is beyond me anyhow?! Would not advocate throwing anything on anyone for sure- even stupid labour ministers called Mandy ;-) yet it was still funny to watch- especially him!! The government is an ass + make dumb decisions all the time + this present government do not care in the slightest about the environment or our economy although pretend like they do. Okay, so she( Plane Stupid protestor) is not going to change anything by throwing gloopy green custard on Mandy yet at least it made many people smile
;-) in these tough credit crunch times !! Barack O'bama is trying to make real positive changes for the environment + wish we had a dynamic governement in the UK like they have in the US. Instead we have a government run by clowns- so why not hit them with custard pies as they hit us far harder/ in far crueler ways by messing up the environment + economy + in many many more ways they assault Britain with their dumb policies + get away with it Scot free in their ivory towers!! No party more Neanderthal than labour that is for sure! By the way, believe the pen is mightier than the sword. Still loved that Candid Camera moment :-) Beatrice ;-)
why isn't he in jail for deception and fraud?
