No, she assaulted him and should be prosecuted.
Just let me get near him,I need somewhere for the contents of my toilet!
Oh sorry,he IS the contents of my toilet! LOL
As much as I detest this man, this was an assault on a minister of state, going about his lawful business.

She should be arrested and charged under the anti-terrorist laws, with the possibility of facing a lengthy prison sentence.

This could quite easily have been a terrorist firing a gun or throwing a bomb.I don't think many would then have found it so amusing, that is unless they were verysick individuals.
makes a change from widening the circle of his friends I suppose!
There's a great video on sky news showing how she calmly walks away and how the green (?) custard slowly runs down his head and shoulders which is quite surprising as I didn't think anything stuck to him.
He obviously thinks he doesn't need protection, it's just a trifle.
I liked what she said about him.

"The only thing "GREEN" about him is the slime flowing through his veins".

Quite apt!
I think she assaulted him and should be arrested and charged. I was very disappointed with the reaction of his security guard who basically waved her on her way. I don't like Mandelson, but he is a government minister and his position, if not the man himself should command more respect than this.
Agree with Rollo -put it brilliantly :-) ;-) Look forward to seeing it on the television later, too as only heard about it on the radio :-) wired made me chuckle too :-)
Big smiles, Bea :-)
It would be dangerous charging her. A jury might well acquit her. Then Mandy would be in a worse mess than the custard caused him.
Rollo- you are not only a genius yet have marvellous wit too + you are totally right here. Not sure why people are getting their knickers in a twist over this- it was only green custard + harmless + very funny!! Lighten up everyone. With all the gloom in the news sure this has amused many- great item to appear on news( not enough good news or funny pieces of news on the news anyhow + right now we all especially need these positive snippets with the cold weather + the credit crunch)!! A big fan of Just For Laughs + Candid Camera so found this most amusing!! Mandy is very slimy too ;-)!! Laughter is the best medicine!! Bea ;-)
What is the world coming to Julnar, you think a politican and his position should command some respect?
When politicans respect the people that vote them in to power then they will get the respect they deserve.
As they don't respect their constituents they don't get any respect in return.
Nor does anyone think that most of them are in it for anything more than money and power,so don't ask me to respect them.
flip_flop...this was done to "death" this morning under CB "As" Ashamed to be English"
Surely the same old contributors aren't going to dish out the same old posts again.
I am amazed at the contibution of Beatrice, but an opinon that I respect, but do not accept.
Like someone else said, if a protester could throw something as harmless as green custard, they could quite as easily fired a gun or lunged with a knife. Just because it was Peter Mandelson (in some peoples' eyes) does not make it a laughing matter. Anyone assaulting anyone should be taken seriously seeing it could have been a fatal attack. If any perpetrator had a gun or a knife and wanted to attack Mandelson then they could have done so..The security people did not stop the green custard, so they would not have stopped a gun or knife.
Indeed.

Keep all politicians as far away from the public as possible.

I, for one, would be very happy if that happened.
She was probably echoing what the rest of the population feels. They talk about global warming, saving the planet and other green issues but go ahead with a 3rd runway at Heathrow. How disingenuous! They only time they are concerned is when they are levying a hefty tax on it.
The hypocrosy of some on this site , never ceases to amaze me .

On the one hand they would complain about the breakdown of law and order - yet seem to think that there is nothing wrong in this woman assaulting another person .

The recipient of the assault is irrelevant , here .

Apart from any personal opinion with respect to the man in question - I totally agree with the rest of AOG's posting
Veritas, I think you have it just about spot on!!! Isn't it funny how in the great bath of life, the scum always floats to the top!!!
Strange how some who wish the justice system be brought to bear in this matter are advocating an over-reactive version of justice.

A simple case of assault to be tried as a terrorist attack - what a well-balanced opinion that is.
No, people complain about the remoteness and inaccesability of our political leaders, this is why.
This is why you'll struggle to gain access to debates in the Palce of Westminster.
This is why you'll struggle to get seats in the balcony in the Commons.
This is why you can no longer walk up Downing Street.
This is why all political speeches are made to people of a like mind hand picked from their own activists.
You get the country you deserve in the end, the correct place to protest is through the ballot box, if you're really bothered about Heathrow's 3rd runway, march, history tells us that lawful demonstrations of dissent like that brings change, stunts like this achieve nothing but 15 minutes of fame for the usually profoundly middle class activist who did it.
She could have thrown acid on him, funny then?
My complaint is nothing to do with Lord Mandelson, it is that this could happen to ANYBODY.in a "civilized" society.
