No...still doesn't make sense. You may have accidentallyt deleted a thread on WhatsApp which means it isn't available when you migrate to a new device, but 5,000 texts?Nope.

I've just been watching Johnson. He said that 5,000 text went missing because his old phone was factory resetted.

This doesn't make sense. WhatsApp messages aren't held on device - they're stored in the cloud. Even if you did a full reset of your phone, you can recall the messages to a new device.

I don't think he's actively lying though - he genuinely doesn't appear to understand the tech.

Thank you - I've read that report, but it still doesn't make sense.

If you forget your phone's passcode you can still retrieve your WhatsApp your passcode to your old phone (or drop it into the North Sea a la Vardy) you can still get to your messages / archive by sigining in on another device.

It doesn't take a tech expert to do this.

//WhatsApp messages aren't held on device - they're stored in the cloud//

Not necessarily, I have 'lost' messages going between phones - messages I wanted!

Yes, me too.  It can happen.

However, in Boris's case, it's still "How inconvenient" ...

Harry & Meg is a good example//

this is not old news

as the hacks say: "this one will run and run!"

Boris is lying as we speak. Ch 232 I think. - His telemessages were factory reset ( partially) and Boris knows naught of that. ( The ickle fibber) and we passed on....

on now

I've just been watching Johnson. He said that 5,000 text went missing because his old phone was factory resetted.

why dont you listen to AB - all truth is there !

I am watching too. I thought he 'did' it himself and being a non-scientist botcched it ( vae victis! o miser Boris!) and then was er caught out... ( please dont delete texts)

Boris has something in common with Wayne Cousins, ( murderer)  - they bofe screw around somfing dreadful?

No. they both reset their phones after warnings!  ( cousins 35 mins before he was arrested, surely surely he was not warned by someone, "They" were on the way?)

10.18 gully. He didnt know what a factory reset is? But he managed to do it at the critical times, and then hand the phone over. But he was to thick to realise that the techies would find out he had done one. :0)))

Not having knowledge does not = thick.

£100million this inquiry is costing the  taxpayer to find out if Boris tells lies...Of course he does..How much of this money will find it's way into the pockets of his Cronies.  After all Boris did order this inquiry........Crooked and fraudulent to the end

Is this inquiry just GREAT watching a liar pulled to bits. I even now believe its worth every penny its costing. Ha ha ha ha ha. Even now he thinks he can fool/ LIE to the enquiry. BORIS as no one told you, you need a ruddy good memory to keep the LIES going.:0))))))

No...still doesn't make sense.

Naomi Your link @ 09,46 was released 21 july this year and yet only yesterday Boris said he could not retrieve those whatsApps. ......Someone is telling lies.....

I'm running out of popcorn, I've been that fixated with Mr Cant Remember I have popcorn up my nose in my ears. :0))))

On the WhatsApp issue ... I'm not sure whether Boris could get them back without help from WhatsApp itself. However, the WhatsApp messages each had a recipient, and all of those recipients should be part of the enquiry, and should have their own WhatsApp messages supplied. So all the messages should be available.
