This probably confirms many people's suspicions about the mental state of some government departments. Further than that, well, words fail me.
I wonder what the immigration officers think of removing the face to face interviews from 5 points of entry. I suspect they may feel their experience and gut feeling when at such a meeting uncovers much that a simple passing of data fails to spot.
It’s great that people from terrorist hotspot countries such as Afghanistan, Eritrea, Libya, Syria and Yemen will be welcomed to our country, once they have watched a boxset of Mr Bean videos at the immigration centre.

It just shows we are a tolerant country and so lucky to have a kind and enlightened Government to keep us safe.
Remember - vote for justice and freedom and law n order - vote Tory in the local elections.
// it's not an amnesty.... //

ohhhhhhhhhh yes it is......
I am preparing my template of answers that will guarantee acceptance and will be readily available to all appropriate users for a small fee.
There is no deterrent for these people. Why don't they want to go to other countries, if it's just asylum they're after? Why don't the govt put that question on the application? Maybe they have.

Do you really think they'd get straight answers? If anything finishes this government off it will be their failure to address this problem - and they are failing - miserably. That said, I can't see any government doing any better. Weak - the lot of them.
As I said, Naomi, there is no deterrent. In a way, I suppose we shouldn't complain about it, because we elect the govt, whether blue or red. Ah, yes, but did we elect them to deal with immigration in this manner? Mmmm.
Where this is concerned I don't believe flavour of government matters one jot. The culture of bleeding hearts and the quest for acceptance of all and sundry that we find ourselves immersed in - and God help us if we criticise that! - is evident across the board.

That is because you like being lied to. You keep voting Conservative because they keep telling you that they will be tough on immigration. Then they do this.
That's not why I vote Conservative, gromit - but while you're here, what's Labour's solution?
Imagine the howls from your mates TTT and ymb if Labour had done this?
Can you answer my question?
I'll give you a hand, gromit. What's Labour going to do about it? Well according to this, posted just minutes ago, sweet Fanny Adams - and she won't help them! Immigration doesn't even make the list!

Yes yes yes, naomi, but in the present day with the current government what's to be done?

You've been duped again by a bunch of expensive suit wearing losers.
No duping here. See my post at 07:51 Thu.
This is probably the straw that broke the camels back. If not the budget from Chunt will hammer the last nail in.

Sunak is toast, which is not a bad thing. Give them time to clear the liberal left from the Party and return to proper Conservative values.

Well where do I start with that?
