Of course gun control is the answer - but it will never happen.

The bottomless pockets of the NRA funding the Republican Party, and the psychological quirk that makes modern America think it's still the 1820's, means that there will never be a government which will commit instant political suicide by even mentioning the notion of curbing gun ownership.
Yep,
Tens of thousands die. Just as many innocents than criminals. And nothing is done.
It's such a common occurrence you have to wonder why they consider it newsworthy.
Gromit it was not a 'moot' point nor point scoring!! Of course it's all senseless and terrifying and possibly without solution but I was commenting on you who said anywhere else in the world except America and that's just not true by a long way. It's an unfair sweeping comment. That is all I was saying.
We stopped easy access to guns. We even stopped our children playing cowboys and indians with silver fake six-shooters.
Result?
People, including children, are now knifing each other.
This is so sad. To lose a loved one in circumstances like this does make the pain worse. I know that.
Gromit. Have you been to America? I have spent an awful lot of time there. I enjoyed kindness and hospitality from strangers and friends.

It's far from a rotten country. Yes, it would better without the desire to own guns and use them but the UK, if that's where you live, has its problems too.
You make it sound as if America is the only place where people kill people over a trivial matter and everywhere else disagreements are settled with words. No shortage of knives in the UK from what I read.
A dreadful tragedy.
I find myself thinking of pasta when I see the headlines.
Not everyone in America is a killer.
America is a wonderful country with lots of warm friendly people. They are welcoming, generous and kind. Unfortunately there are the occasional unstable individuals who one has to be quite wary of.
if the USA was not going to take any action on this problem in 2012 when adam lanza killed twenty schoolchildren below the age of eight then no atrocity is going to bad enough... this will go on in that part of the world for a very long time yet and there's nothing anyone can do....

i was interested to note how unattractive the USA was as a destination among british people who are considering emigration... i think this is the main reason. I wouldn't want to live there!!
"We stopped easy access to guns. We even stopped our children playing cowboys and indians with silver fake six-shooters.

but on a much lower scale... there will always be incidents of horrifying violence but america's gun culture makes it a hell of a lot worse
