There are various lefty love ins below calling for a general election. Let me explain why you have zero chance. The current PM will not call one and even in the unlikely event she is deposed and we spend another 6 weeks electing a new one. The replacement one won't call one either. I hope that is clear.

Interesting thread, but the comment about the alternative to Tory gov. being much worse, is entirely correct. I have been voting since the days of the great “Wislon” . I once believed that a fairer distribution of wealth was a good thing, if not essential to our society. However, Harold’s successors convinced me otherwise, remember Healy going cap in hand to...

‘his party elected him as party leader as all parties do with all party leaders’

The wider party or just MPs?
I stand corrected then. I thought he was just given the job because him and Tony had come to some kind of agreement.
I was actually trying to help you out.

spice: "I stand corrected then. I thought he was just given the job because him and Tony had come to some kind of agreement." - Yes but he was still elected unopposed under party rules, someone else could have stood, the "deal" was not under their party rules An election does not necessarily include a vote.
"I was actually trying to help you out. " - how?
I thought it was a counter to people who keep on about Truss only being elected by .0002% of the population or whatever it was.
Forget about it.

untitled: "i do not understand why you are so blindly loyal to the Tory party " - TBH I saw what happened in the 70s when real Labour were last in power so it's not so much loyalty to the Tories as fear of the alternative. Whatever you think is bad now, it was 100 times worse in the 70s.
I'm just explaining why there won't be a GE me only china.

foo ! me old china yeah ! - she has a majority of 80 in the H of C is the reason why there wont be a GE. jesus
PP,
75.
The Conservatives can inflict a lot more damage on themselves in the next 18 months. An election now they might scrape a win. After another year of this, they would surely no defeated. The wait until 2024 will be worth it.

No I do not want to gamble with you.

In the same way you explained that Johnson would win the next GE, then said he’d beaten off the naysayers in the VONC, then assured us he’d be staying and even asked by what possible means they could remove him anyway?
Do you recall how that turned out, me old china?
The letters for a VONC of Truss are already being sent by Tory MPs.
What a terrible situation we find ourselves in.
Johnathan Pie is right.
They know they’re doomed at the ejection so it’s a quick cash injection for their mates and the top 1% before they’re gone.

Satire, but undeniable facts again.

*election not ejection.

Though it certainly will be! Lol
I'd forgotten all about Mr Pie.
Just resubscribed, ta.
Tora’s voting record says it all…

Voted for Corbyn.
Voted for Johnson.
Voted for Truss.

Some must stop him ;-)
