The safety of the officers and surrounding staff was clearly at risk ,attempts to restrain including if necessary tassering was required.
What sort of knife was it? A butter knife? Taking it at face value, the plods should be charged with something serious
'93-year-old Donald Burgess, who only had one leg....one of the officers used PAVA spray and a baton.....A second officer then deployed his Taser......The exact cause of death has not yet been established'

The MSN 'report' misses out the fact he was, apparently, wheelchair bound as reported by other media outlets.
They used a taser on a 93 year old man with one leg in a wheelchair who had dementia and obviously had no idea what the hell he was doing ??!! Bloody idiots ....
It is easy to jump to conclusions about an old person, assume that they can't be dangerous.

A police officer friend of mine was attacked and stabbed by an 98 year old man. It took more than one officer to restrain him after that. It was a serious injury.
wolf - he was in a wheelchair with one leg and had dementia - stand by what I said !

And aren't YOU 'jumping to conclusions' also, talking about a totally different man ??
Dementia sufferers can get uncharacteristically VERY violent. The fact that he was in a wheelchair does not nullify the fact that he was waving a knife around. I have every sympathy with the police.
After a thorough investigation it was found that proportionate force was used and no further action will be taken regarding the officers involved.

There, saved the country a few grand and some po-faced news reports.
I am sure they screamed 'you have been tasered ! you have been tasered!" after they did it

he was threatening them with a knife apparently ( yes we can discuss it as no charges have been laid).

pepper spray....
STILL considered to be 'sedative' - Jesus
ZM, it's a Telegraph report picked up by MSN (who as far as I know don't have their own reporters) and it says "wheelchair-bound" in the first sentence.
Not in the MSN article it doesn’t.
the one you linked to? Sure it does

///Sussex Police were called to the home in St Leonards-on-Sea on June 21 following reports that a wheelchair-bound male resident was threatening staff with a knife.///
apologies - that's the second sentence, under the photo.
I haven’t given a link. Are you ok?
ah, double sorry, it was Ken's link. None the less, it was as I quoted it, mentioning wheelchairs.
This is a screenshot of the link to Ken’s article. No mention of wheelchairs.

Utterly appalling. Squad: are you a PR guy for the Bill?
