...would there be any need for food banks?
There's an ass of a Tory MP who thinks there wouldn't be.

Yes, eat it too, Tone..

I agree, Gness. Were going backwards. Well, some of us...
Were going backwards. Well, some of us...

Nooooo, were all in this together !
Oh yes, silly me! What was I thinking?...
Money would certainly go further if people learnt to cook. I remember my aunt cooking pigs’ heads to make pork brawn for sandwiches - and very nice it was too.
I knew a guy who would take cooked pigs trotters wrapped in a brown paper bag into the cinema. He’d sit there chewing away watching the film.
All in this together, Tony? I can hear you laughing from here. With Johnson and friends in power? :-)))
Let them eat cake.
Exactly right, gness.
Andres, I was brought up eating pigs heads and trotters that my mother cooked. I still eat chawl and the occasional trotters.
Bet you've eaten them too - in sausages
And perhaps when the MPs learn how to budget on their own salaries they won’t need a subsidised bar in their workplace any longer.
All sounds rather offal to me
And Useless - sorry, Eustice - saying people should just buy value brands to solve their food problems. Does he not think they’ve been doing that already?
Try asking a butcher for some free bones.
Ha ha
If I wrote an app that needed the latest £1,000 iPhone to run that located nearest food bank and thus saved on taxi fares , I’m sure I would be in the top 100 apps list on Apple (irony emoji symbol).

Well lets face it, the underlying sentiment is correct.

I suspect many of us on here already do it as a matter of course, I'm afraid many younger dont - even when they have been taught.

He then looses the plot a bit on the amount you could 'survive on'. Shame really as,like I say, he does have an underlying point.
I'd say he completely loses the plot, YMF. I can't think of a single meal i could throw together for 30p.
A lot of food bank usage is because it's free food which means they have more money to spend on cigs, booze and the latest Iphone. Look at a food bank queue and note how many are smoking with their face planted in a top of the range phone. No one is genuinely poor in this country. Go to Africa if you want to see poverty.
I asked for bones last week at the butchers to make a consomme and was informed that they were not allowed to hand out bones!
I had pig's cheek in Spain - wasn't much meat on it, mainly bone.
where is that helen, I get bones all the time from the local butcher.
