Pity the wee un seems to care more about being contrarian than she does about her public.

Devolution is the worse thing that happened to the UK. It's taken us backward to medieval times. Queen Nicola of Scotland. We are a small nation of four countries. Same laws and rules should apply

Scots!
It's just about control and keeping her face in the News.

Despicable woman who doesn't care about Scots at all Nationalistic or otherwise.

If she won Independence what's the betting she would be seen running for the hills with a large suitcase of readies?
Are you saying that she is wrong to make us wear masks for longer? Do you have the data to support your assumption?

I don't like her, I don't want independence but I trust that she has our interests at heart.

Being contrary is a trait of many Scots. We don't see it in a negative way at all. It just makes us more loveable.

This sort of thing should be decided UK wide. This is another effect of the disastrous devolution. All it's done is add new layers of admin and give busybodies like Sturgeon power to affect the populace of their unfortunate citizenry.
Question Author
bang on Pat, BA. Devolution should be reversed pronto.
Well, Wolf63, I don't think Sturgeon has our interests at heart.
It's all about trying to prove that we are different (when we aren't). With all her "extra caution" have our Covid results been any better than elsewhere? No.
Is her woke trans agenda in our interests? No.
Is her extreme green agenda in our interests? No.
And don't get me started on the car crash that is our education system.

I wouldn't call it suffering exactly but it's getting really old now.

Thrawn is a good old Scottish word.
TTT - the thread was going well until you mentioned her 'pathological hatred of England'.
I don't know of one person who hates the English, but we are tired of being considered second class citizens or just another part of England by people who should know that we are all British.

I am proud to be Scottish and proud to be British.

My brother lives in England, his wife and children are English but his kids are proud of their Scottish and Irish identity too.

Anyway, she still annoys me.
"This sort of thing should be decided UK wide"

On what basis would that be decided? If cases were very low in England but very high in the other three countries, what would you expect to happen?

If cases were very high only in England but very low in the rest of the UK, what should happen?
Trouble is though Wolf, England is the only country that hasn't a devolved government. So we're the ones that are being wrongly treated as the poor relations. ;0)
Blair's shambles that gained him nothing & cost the UK its unity.
Matters that are devolved to Scotland, Ulster and Wales are the responsibility of the UK Government when it comes to England.
I know that Corby. I'm not daft. But surely England should have its own devolved government as well. In fact perhaps East Anglia and other areas could have their own governments. As I said - Back to the middle ages and we could all fight each other!!
Noticed the number of covid cases are rising again in England, since Boris stopped the wearing of masks to try and make himself popular .. Let the bodies pile up I don't care said Boris.....And he doesn't
The UK overnment IS, to all intents and purposes, the government for England.

They can introduce legislation and schemes applying only to England so why would you need a separate English government?
// Do you have the data to support your assumption?//

what that babies will DDDIIIIEEEEE if you dont wwear a mask
OR
that babies will still DDDDIIIIIIIEEEE if you continue to wear a mask

No data either way ( I know these things)

oh whilst I am at it - the only country with decent follow up or long term data is - - - UK and the NHS. Data series with millions of patients. US pharma companies either dont collect the data ( costs too much ) OR do and wont share the results ( share price sensitive).

All the waiting cases in the NHS done ten years ago by bought in service companies - is there any follow up data?
Nope - the NHS contract didnt specify it, we have no idea what the results are
// so why would you need a separate English government?//
oh this is the midlothian question
bit deal ten years ago

English legislation can be voted on by scots MPs ( so what ) but not the other way round in reserved areas of govt

after events in Ukraine, all these eentsy weentsy questions strike me as dead ( not as impt as originally thought)
You were close, it is the West Lothian question and there was a period of about five year when there was the English Votes for English Laws in Parliament but the Government scrapped it in 2020.
