Why is it that so many millions of people have received their vaccinations, but there are so many new cases every day? Are most of the people with Covid unvaccinated? We are not told this.

I hope Sqad is bald....it'll save him tearing his hair out at some of the ill informed and frankly quite ignorant posts he reads on here.
I guess you and sqad know it all, gness?
gness/sqad, I'm all ears please address my posts at 23:01 and 23:04.
Where have either of us said that, Roy but we know enough to not post waffle that passes through our heads because it suits us.
Kardashev...You have never been all ears....now or before.
gness, is this wrong?
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/different-vaccines/how-they-work.html
..because that's what I have summarised in several places and sqad said "I have never seen so much misinformation on Immunity on AB in the past 2 years. " - so which is it?
gness: The vaccine does not give immunity, it merely arms the body to fight it off quicker and more effectively than it otherwise would.

Please tell me what is wrong with that sentence.
Kardashev:- //nailit: "Everybody carry on keep getting jabbed with God only knows what" - like you have?//

Before you start down that path again, just remember why the other thread got closed.
"people don't seem the grasp that the vaccine does not give immunity. Most of those tested positive will be vaccinated"

From the CDC link you gave,

"It typically takes two weeks after you are fully vaccinated for the body to build protection ***(immunity)*** against the virus that causes COVID-19." [emphasis added]

Do you have a source for your second claim?
THECORBYLOON:"It typically takes two weeks after you are fully vaccinated for the body to build protection ***(immunity)*** against the virus that causes COVID-19." [emphasis added]" - it also says; "Different types of vaccines work in different ways to offer protection. But with all types of vaccines, the body is left with a supply of “memory” T-lymphocytes as well as B-lymphocytes that will remember how to fight that virus in the future." ie the body is left with the tools to fight the virus.

"Do you have a source for your second claim? " - yes mathematics, 90% of people are vaccinated it therefore follows that a 90% of people tested are vaccinated.

if you dispute what I say how do you think the vaccines work? heard nothing from gness/sqad, want to have a go?
"90% of people are vaccinated it therefore follows that a 90% of people tested are vaccinated."

That wasn't your original claim though was it? You claimed, "Most of those tested positive will be vaccinated".

There have been 385,233,163 COVID tests in the UK, of which, 11,542,143 were positive.

That means 2.99% of all tests in the UK were positive and as you claim about 90% have had the jags, I could claim it follows that the 2.99% testing positive are all part of the 10% who haven't had the jags.
It seems to be the situation in London (mainly) that's driving this latest panic (save the NHS?), so if there's going to be more restrictions perhaps they should be localised to London initially.
Kardashev your theory about 90% of tests will be for vaccinated will only be true if tests recorded are taken completley at random. There not.
Am not sure how the tests figure is found though ... surely its an estimate as most lfts won't be recorded. I just do mine and bin them as they always been negative
For those who are interested watch this and learn..

Cosmic Shambles on Another Possible COVID Christmas
I guess they know more than you Roy
are we still here scratching our heads and asking earnestly

why covid?

or in pure AB speak - "why covid den?"

I still think the figures show the split unlinking between infection and hospital admission

I think the govt are not sure and want to wait and see

I think the common man has looed at all the parties ( last year ) and thought - to a surprise of all - I will do what is best for ME - which is a kinda vol lock down

anyway Manchester is peculiarly empty ( but that may be because it is so goddam cold)
// "90% of people are vaccinated it therefore follows that a 90% of people tested are vaccinated."//

no - non sequitur I am afraid - as Bobo says - gifted he is - only if it is randomly chosen, distributed
and it is obviously not
from these pages, LFTs are still done if there are symtoms ( sign actually) - which is a selection process towards the 2% prevalence

( makes sense to me: doesnt matter about you)

but it will still be 70-80% - LFTs are for negative people confirming they arent carriers. You may not like this: that is how it is
PCR are for people who feel ill: you may not like it, that is how it is

It is all to do with a statistic called NPV ( LFTs ) and PPV ( PCRs). The Ed of the BMJ doesnt understand it, so give up now.

as I write I am listening to Pagel - not too bad - not clinical by the way - maff only. Her view is - oo la la - if you are in a room with an omicron, you will get it - - - Golly !
Douglas, //never mind the usual cries of 'we can't just leave them to die' or similar. //

Can we just leave them to die?
The vaccine does not give immunity, a/c to Kardashian

immunity is used in a variety of senses here - no not immune in a diplomatic sense - ( untouchable by legal process) and yes immune in a pathological sense ( T and B cells wiggle and antibody levels go up)

a million Londoners doing the experiment - not getting jabbed - oo la la again ! - Pagel see above arguing the toss about that one - London rates NOT higher than country average.
Roobaba.... maybe Prof Christina Pagel is right and we should of locked down 7-10 days ago but that just wouldnt have been accepted by people and the anti vaxxers, anti mask, anti lockdown protestors would of been out in force, Tory rebels would of been even more vocal. Even now there are people on here who think theres no case for testing, masks, restrictions.
You are absolutely right Douglas: however we have to stick with the publicity (and fur other vaccinations too)
However, you really can’t not treat people
