…You have to rely on the Labour Party to save your blushes.
Nearly 100 Tories revolt and do not support their own Government.
Clearly a party deeply divided.
I wonder what the people of Shropshire North are making of tonights shenanigans ?

These are the 99 Tory MPs who defied the whip and voted against the government:
https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/boris-johnson-biggest-tory-rebellion-plan-b_uk_61b90aa4e4b0d17c785f042c

Does anyone think that Starmer will be writing to all of them in the morning asking if they would support a vote of no-confidence?

I certainly don't. Total waste of space.
it's BY Election not BYE Election - just saying.
Why would disgruntled tory voters vote for the libdems, they are just as mad as than the Labour Party?
//Why would disgruntled tory voters vote for the libdems, they are just as mad as than the Labour Party?//

The thing is, dave, Tory voters (me included) have nobody to vote for. The current party policies are not ones I can support. The big danger is that Tory voters abstain and whoever else turns out will win (as nearly happened in Old Bexley & Sidcup).
Kernzie ( Laura Kuennsberg silly!) seems to be articulating what we all feel - In terms of the pandemic, the british public are voting with its feet ( to the vacca clinics) Thank you Vladimir Ilich ( Lenin silly!)

and a few are saying - Boris might be right you know!

and few more are saying - the tidal wave of cases will drown out ( pun intended) any dissent

I thought it was a put up job between Boris and Keir - like Jedwsard we cd call them Bormer
Boris - I need these measures but I have a hundred or so crayzies howling in their kennels
Keir ( for it is he) - they seem sensible, and if we dont oppose, then I can look distainful and statesmanlike - and anyway who wants to be PM in a shotstorm like this?
dave - it might be a BY election but it could also be a BYE-BYE Boris election.
it can be either - by or bye - the silent e is optional
so we can say er bye-bye to that one!

The thing is, dave, Tory voters (me included)
golly stop press news - NJ votes tory
I'da neverer guessed!
dammit...
Conservatives will win it.
Good on the 99 who rebelled at the over reaction of Johnson and his so called 'scientists'. Apart from one labour MP no one is questioning the actions, you have to wonder why as even if you think they may be correct Sir Kier should be pressing for the reasons, backed by figures(not guesses).

As for the By-election, as I have stated many times on here, like NJ, I am a Tory without a party to vote for. I could not vote for them as they currently stand as they do not represent Conservative values as I see them. I will not be voting (will spoil paper) for anyone unless things change dramatically. I am pretty sure there will be some in the By-election who will see it the same way, just depends how many. Turnout at the last one was spectacularly low.
//The thing is, dave, Tory voters (me included) have nobody to vote for. The current party policies are not ones I can support. //

There are always policies that, if voters of any hue are honest, they are reluctant to support - but the alternative right now is far worse so compromise is called for. The placing of the 'x' is a no-brainer.
That is nonsense Naomi, keep voting for more of the same and nothing will happen.

Sometimes one has to make a stand for what one believes is right.

Currently the 'Tories' led by Johnson are not true Conservatives at all. More like high taxing Liberal greens. If that is what you like fine, vote for it, but they are not Conservative values.

I will not not for a donkey because it has a blue rosette on it.
YMB, So if you want what you see as 'Conservative values' who are you going to vote for?
//who are you going to vote for?//

Didnt read my post fully at 8:41 then?
I missed that - but is it abstaining the answer? I don't think so. If you make no effort you've no room to complain when others do, and you - once again - get what you don't want.
Really disappointed in my MP. After saying last week that he could not support the Government's motion, he has done just that, citing the fact that LFTs will be accepted as the reason for his U-turn.
Just when i believed he was beginning to grow a pair :-(
I'll swap you ken, my MP rebelled.......and I cooked his summer BBQ couple of years back! Rissole!

The Daily Torygraph are not impressed.

They call it an hammer blow to Boris’ authority…

Is he a lame duck PM ?
it's almost as if the PM has had one or two crises to deal with. Boris is still favourite to wipe the floor with Labour as usual in 2024.
The constant moaners are the lame ducks, gromit.
