Who Wants Masks?

Boris announced yesterday that masks are to be made compulsory again in shops. In the summer he said that there would be no going back on the relaxation of measures. Face masks are a complete waste of time given the way that most people wear them so how many will join me in this little bit of civil disobedience and refuse to wear them?

//For the rule breakers, do what you like, but at least have the decency to respect others and stay out of their way .//

Or of course, instead of expecting other people to take precautionary measures for them by either wearing flimsy face coverings or by “…staying out of their way “ (however that might work) they could always adopt measures to protect themselves by buying and wearing an FFP3 facemask. This would afford a considerable level of protection for themselves – far more than relying on others using unsuitable and/or badly worn face coverings would. Their protection would then be under their own control and they would not be dependent on the “decency” of others. The downside is they would not then be able to espouse quite the same level of smug self-righteousness. But they can’t have everything, however much as they’d like to expect it.
i have had all three jabs now, and consider i have a small measure of protection against covid, though if asked to wear a mask at the hospital, doctors, shops, on the buses, i will comply. its not being a sheep, more common sense. I don't like wearing it as i said before but needs must.
\\ It's quite clear that most of the answers above are from people who behave like sheep following their beloved Boris.//
No, I'm one of the many vulnerable doing my small bit to help other people and myself, to stay alive. Nothing to do with Boris or even sheep.
The sheep argument is lame and woolly - walk on the pavement? Baa, Keep off the railway tracks? Bleat.

It's the refuge of someone floundering.
I will continue to follow government and medical advice from healthcare professionals

Sorry, late to the party! Not interested in any argument whatsoever but I do ask the op, should you go into a hospital covid victim ward as a worker or visitor (if allowed) to see someone for the last time, would you wear a mask? Or be disobedient even if you're allowed not to wear one, and still refuse? Just asking!

That comment is clearly ludicrous, no way would I follow Boris and he is not a 'beloved' of mine! I wear mine in the hope that it will help at least a little
///little bit of civil disobedience and refuse to wear them?///

I trust you will be consistent and refuse to wear a ventilator when in hospital.
Well said elliemay. I'd do anything to have keir as PM or even a more reliable Tory but I'm not going to ignore medical advice and put others at more risk just as a protest against Boris
I think wearing masks are ridiculous too, and they make me nauseous after five minutes. If you could see the size of the COVID germ, masks are no barrier whatsoever!
Yes but if you sneeze or caught they travel alot more slowly. Have you advised the scientists and doctors of your theory to put them right and can you explain where the research findings someone posted were wrong???
You haven't looked at the research, Maggieriorda and that's why those of us with the sense to wear a quality mask will have to do so for much longer than we would need to.
You could try wearing a face shield then maggieriorfa or use a better mask or even double mask
I'll bet they are not eating rice and beans this weekend.
oops^^^^wrong post!
All those against masks, if you came to Portugal would you comply with the mask wearing or not. Our numbers had been down but started rising when travel restrictions lifted and most of those I'll here now are non residents
I have no problem at all with wearing face masks in shops and public transport.
You have as much a duty in life to protect other people as you do to protect yourself
Same here, Calmck. We had next to nothing in the county til the 5k restriction was lifted and city folk decided to holiday by the sea. They were the only ones cocky enough to not wear a mask and up went our numbers.
Goodness, gracious a great fire of balls.

Calm doon, we'll laugh about this one day.
