Fancy that, a racist complaining of racism is found out to be a hypocrite but jno and many others can not find it in them to comment his racism.

I dont want to do the "Godwins Law" thing, but werent a lot of the Nazis apologies(just before they were hung)also heartfelt?
I wonder how many here have said something dubious in the past that would now have people calling them out? I know I certainly have in my younger days, but I certainly don't consider myself racist. And although, as I said earlier, Mr Rafiq should still be held accountable, I don't think anybody who once made a racist comment is automatically still a racist. If it is the case that one instance is all it takes for one to be forever branded a racist (and that goes for some Rafiq has accused too), then 99% of us are also guilty.

There does sometimes seem to be a nasty whiff of anti-Jew on this site, and I’ve got to say I really don’t like it.
Ynna, I'm not sure that a ten year old tweet is comparable to being involved in the deaths of 5½ million Jews in the Holocaust, but don't let that stop you.
It's why all this nonsense trawling through historical alleged comments needs to stop, I would bet everyone could find something in their past of which they're not particulary proud. The time to draw a line and move on.
DD, I wasn't talking solely about antisemitism @21:38, but prejudice of any sort. I see little difference between antisemitism and racism when it comes to being unacceptable.

Mozz at 7.43 - don’t tell me, tell the TCL, JNO and the others who have a problem with Jews.
Why do you think I have a problem with Jewish folk?
No answer then?
He doesn’t need (nor has he claimed) ‘moral superiority’. He has been proved a hypocrite, but that doesn’t mean his claims are invalid.

If someone reports a drunk driver crashing his car into a wall and then is found to be over the limit himself - that doesn’t mean the wall hasn’t been damaged.
I don't understand why, having left, he then went back for a second spell at Yorkshire. Also, at one point he was made club captain - didn't that give him some clout to do something about the name-calling?
Just wait until anti-semitism in Golf Clubs comes to the fore.

Banter is just that...banter and comes in walks of life and varies from unacceptable to light hearted comments.

Like rape really........various degrees.

It is not so much as what you say as to how you say it.
"Banter is just that...banter and comes in walks of life and varies from unacceptable to light hearted comments.

Like rape really........various degrees."

When is rape acceptable?

///When is rape acceptable?//

Never.....but my point being that there are various degrees of it, in my opinion, just like banter....in my opinion.
The world has moved on from being able to have a laugh, I doubt we'll return to simpler times while everybody professes earnestness in all things but are often found wanting.
What on earth made you think on giving rape as an example?
Varying degrees of rape?

"I was very raped" versus "I was slightly raped"

Right-o.

And yes, the ugly face of antisemitism is a regular guest on AB.
My husband is from a different generation from me. He says the Yorkshire cricket racism is “just banter”. I said it might just be banter to him but it’s not for the Asian players. It’s hurtful, and Michael Vaughan is not a nice person.

I think Rafiq is on sticky ground now though for having said disparaging things referring to Jews.
