I wrongly assumed that someone calling for a parliamentary inquiry would have examples in addition to the conversation from ten year ago.
Thanks desk, thanks webbo.....anti-semitism still lives amongst us. Us Scots wont tolerate it,apart from one or two heidies...
//The undeniable facts are, the cricketer has suffered appalling racism, which is disgraceful, but equally, he posted anti-Jew comments, which in my mind is equally disgraceful.//

I don't think anyone doesn't think his comments are anything other than disgusting (something the player himself has stated). What I disagree with is the opinion that this means that Rafiq's claims of institutional racism are somehow offset by these comments. ALL racism should be condemned equally, whether against race or religion.
Yes,you wrongly assumed,TCL.Us Scots should fight against anti-semitism all the way down the line.
So only ant-Jew has a limitation statute now then TCL?

You know as well as I do that that’s a weak-*** argument.
Oh,come off it Mozz,he can hardly claim the moral high ground while he himself has been found just as guilty as being some kind of racist hate merchant.Remember racism just doesnt work one way.
Does anyone else think there should be a Parliamentary inquiry into anti-semitism within cricket?
I totally agree Mozz - two wrongs don’t make a right - but he apologises for his anti-Jew comments, and we’re meant to sweep it under the carpet because the disgusting racism he endured, it seems to me, is considered more important.

I don’t think it is, and thankfully I’m not alone, and I think his Jew-hate is as equally as bad as the racism he endured.
fancy that, lots of evidence from Rafiq and not a peep out of royfromaus. One story about Rafiq and all of a sudden roy's starting a thread. It's almost as if white English racism is only to be expected but from anyone else it's an outrage!

Not that the tweets have anything to do with systemic racism in cricket, but let's just ignore fine details.
As i said-some heidies...
So what are your views on anti-semitism,JNO.Do your views on Jews align with the anti-semite Rafiq?
Nice swerve TCL at 8.27.

But yes, I do.

If what I’ve heard is true, there is a problem.
I am not defending his comment from ten year ago in any way but I fail to see how anyone can think it is on a par with the racial abuse that he and others have endured within cricket.
DD, what exactly have you heard then?
JNO, as per, missing the point.

Quelle surprise.
It was all about money,TCL,all about money. Now that his anti-semitic Jew hating postings have been broadcast lets hope the Jew hater wont recieve a penny.
I'm not saying he hasn't lost is moral superiority Ynna, but it also doesn't automatically mean that he's lying about the behaviour he suffered. Plenty of others have come out a corroborated his statements. There's definitely a problem in Cricket, but Rafiq should receive the same punishment than anyone else in a similar position.
'Board of Deputies of British Jews president Marie van der Zyl said his apology "seems heartfelt".

She said: "Azeem Rafiq has suffered terribly at the hands of racists in cricket so he will well understand the hurt this exchange will cause to Jews who have supported him.

"His apology certainly seems heartfelt and we have no reason to believe he is not completely sincere."'

Good on the Board of Deputies - they’re forgiving.

The forgiveness doesn’t work both ways though does it.

I remain permanently sickened the way Jews are considered.
Why am I not surprised by the apologists on this thread?

I agree entirely DD. Unfortunately in this country all to often racism only seems to go one way
