Since moving in with my parents I've been shopping at lidl which is the nearest supermarket to me. I walk there with my shopping trolley and the lidl trolleys have a drop down bit at the bottom where you can place your trolley in.

I haven't seen this in any other supermarket I go to like Tesco and Sainsburys. Does anyone know if they have plans to fit these on their trolleys?

I don't understand that! I don't use a trolley & HATE the Lidl wheely baskets - they are far too big & clumsy. I prefer a hand basket like at Aldi.
You would need to contact Tesco to get an answer to that.

Ok
Why not just place what you're buying in your own trolley and then unload it at the checkout to pay?
dddly...they don't like you putting your stuff in your own bag ...some even have notices up telling you to use theirs...
Diddlydo, people will think you’re stealing.
When my son was a baby I put a big bag of potatoes on the bottom shelf of his buggy. An elderly couple followed me all round the supermarket to the checkout to make sure I picked it up and paid for it.
Also, personal shopping trolleys are not shaped like the supermarket trolleys. It is very difficult to load your shopping in to your own trolley as you go round the store and keep the squashable goods from getting squished by the heavier ones.
The stores definitely don't like you doing it.

Here you go Dave. There is a red handle under the cart which you pull down and insert the wheels of your personal trolley in.

Yes, they have tiddly ones for kids, Eleanor. They are cute!

In fact I'm about to pop to lidl now to get some boxes of chocs for Little Tigs's teachers. Better put them in the fridge when I get back or they'll melt! Or maybe some nice biscuits instead.....
