third one who says they aren't voting because its only the Police Commissioner.
//i wonder who will pick up the Harlepool votes//

That will be interesting. I wasn't going to bother to vote this time - the result is a foregone conclusion where I live - but having re-considered it, after the awful year and more we've had what with Covid and Brexit, and the government having done a pretty decent job of it all, I would like the Conservatives to rally as much support as possible now - so albeit I'm just a statistic, I will.
Hartlepool will largely depend upon what happens to the very strong Brexit party vote in 2019 (over 25%). The combined Tory/Brexit vote then was much larger than Labour's.

you should vote Naomi, every one counts
Corby, white people are in the minority in London and will vote for the candidate who most closely reflects their own political views. Elections in many areas is doubtless influenced by ethnicity and it will be interesting to see which way this one goes. I suspect the vote will be split rather more than it was the last time.

Naomi this was your quote!! Im putting you right they are not the minority, 45% are British, it was you who first mentioned the colour!!
i couldnt care less what P+CC gets it. i don't even know what their job is, whether they are politically affiliated or what. I would have no idea who to vote for if presented with a list of names
I generally vote, emmie - always in General Elections. As I say though, the result is a foregone conclusion here. Labour never stand a hope in hell - thank goodness.

white Britons in London are in the minority now. couldn't be plainer.
I did my postal vote a while back. Went by a voting station earlier and had a word with an official outside and he said it had been surprisingly busy. I thought good but I expect we'll end up with labour and the Greens again:-(
Question Author
anyway i hope that people get the candidate they want in power, and that they can make a difference to people's lives.
Question Author
LB, that's good....
Question Author
not the bit about Labour and the Greens, but i know what you mean.. lol
I only had Police commissioner but voted.

Needed to register my feelings to Boris and Hancock so didn't vote Tory this time, despite being a long term Conservative.

Maybe if the Tory party becomes a Tory Party I may return, but it wont be whilst we are being ruled by the Green Party in No10.
Joe, actually I wasn’t the first to mention ethnicity - do read the thread - but that aside what’s the problem with taking demographics into account? I think it's relevant.
Question Author
we aren't ruled by the Greens, the problem for London especially is idiots like the Green party calling for more and more cycle lanes, and Khan agreeing.
Question Author
i probably did Joe...
Emmie; "White Britons in London are in the minority now."
Can't find any details of the breakdown resulting from the recent census, but this from 2020;

"London is a multi-racial city. 59.8% of the total population are white, among which, 44.9% are white-British., 2.2% Irish and 12.2% of white from various parts of the globe."
"Asians are filling 20.9% of the London populace. Asian statistics include, 6.6% of Indians, 2.2% of Pakistan and 2.7% of Bangladesh. 1.5% of the population is covered by Chinese, with 1.3% of Arabs dwelling the mainland and the rest came from various areas of Asia."
Why has today been labelled 'Super Thursday' and who came up with the name. Anyone know? Just another polling day, isn't it?
Question Author
no the census results wouldn't be available as yet i would have thought
With Labour fielding an Asian and the Conservatives fielding a candidate of Jamaican extraction I’ve no doubt the choice of London Mayor will result, in the main, from the electorate’s racial preferences rather than from political persuasion.

Another quote mentioning racial preferences! and ethnicity. The last census gave a 45% British population in London.Has it changed that much?
