so he doesnt deny the fact ( there is a viddie) but says he didnt realise it was wrong - - no criminal intent.

The viddie of the squaddies abusing the Iraqis? They got off after their barrister argued they wouldnt have video'd it if they knew it was a criminal act. Dunno who that was: obviously one to retain

Someone please tell me this because I cannot for the life of me understand - why on earth does anyone put up with this sort of behaviour? Would you not smack him in the gob if he did it to you? I know I would. Job or no job. How can 20+ women tolerate this behaviour and only complain when it comes to light? Same with domestic abuse - I can never understand anyone putting up with it - the first time they would get a warning and the second attempt they would get their nuts chopped off with a carving knife.

my mum put up with years of abuse from my dad, controlling, bullying behaviour, one didn't give up on marriage that easily, shame as we were better off without him, he was a horrible individual. Women tend to not be that proactive when it comes to abuse, the ones that do something about it, have often no where to go with their complaint. police don't always take it seriously.

I'd taken no real interest in this news item as I thought I'd never heard of this cove. I then realised that he played "Wyman Norris" in the later series of "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet."

I've still no real interest in the news item, but simply wonder why these allegations surfaced coincidentally with Mr Clarke being awarded one of the prizes (which seem limitless in their numbers) that Thespians feel the need to dish out to each other.

As mentioned, many women seem to have lost the ability to deal with lecherous men. If they are suggesting they had to go along with Mr Clarke's allegedly obnoxious behaviour in order to advance their career, perhaps they should have considered a different job.

no flack NJ, just some women don't report abuse of whatever decription because of not being believed.

my mum and us kids only got help when the police were called, the copper who turned up said to my dad, who had hit my mother, and probably not for the first time, "feel like a big man do you, hitting a woman", we left that night, never to return.

This is not the same. There are all sorts of reasons why women (although it should be remembered that some men suffer and tolerate DV) tolerate abuse. There is children, money and housing to consider. But to put up with a lech at work is quite beyond me. No women I know would have have tolerated anything they didn't want a man to do. There's no need to dress it up as "inappropriate" or anything like that. If they didn't like it - be it verbal or physical - they would not put up with it and would let the perpetrator know. This would often be loudly and forcibly (very occasionally with a slap to be going on with if it was particularly offensive). They didn't wait twenty years.

Then they should do something about it themselves. Once is unacceptable but perhaps unavoidable, twice is allowing it and multiple times is sheer madness. At the age of about fourteen I was at a dance and a lad was being a bit pushy. A quick word with my brother and he was 'escorted' out of the venue and taught a very valuable lesson in the alleyway outside.

truth will out i guess, we don't know what he has done for sure, but it remains true that you wouldn't apologise to the media about wrongdoing and then accept that you had to seek help for it, which is what he said on the tv.
