Me too! I've found most people respectful of space except in shops. A couple of times I've had to ask people behind me in queues to step back, and to be fair they seemed surprised but they readily obliged and apologised. I've taken to standing with my trolley behind me in the queue to fend them off. :D

It isn’t that simple really.
In our village as in many places the streets are narrow and the road is busy.
Therefore often there is no option but to just carry on. I’ll step off the pavement if safe to do so, but otherwise I just hurry past.
What intrigues me is when people just stop
and wait for you to pass. I can’t really see the point of that, especially when you’re still in the street. You’re only slightly increasing the fleeting time you are in contact with the other person. I sometimes wonder if the other person is trying to make some sort of “point”. One lady gave me a very loud and sarcastic “thank you” as I went past her. At least I assume it was sarcastic :-)
