We have just received our Census form, offering an opportunity to complete it on line.

For those of you who don't have access to a computer, don't worry, the form advises you to go on line and apply for a paper copy.

There is no mention of what to do if you have no access to the internet, just a number to call, and we know what that involves!!

Are we in danger of simply air-brushing out of existence, anyone who does not have access to a computer?

christ missed that bit of wisdom

lankeela thinks you are verbose wordy and loquacious as well as vacuous
but I find you funny and to the point
There is a free phone number on the letter I received, in fact the number is also repeated at the end of the letter
On a similar note, my husband had minor surgery recently. On arrival the instruction was to wait in the car and ring reception. My husband doesn’t have a phone and doesn’t want one. He does have a car but could have arrived by bus. There was the assumption that he had a car and a phone.
I know of two households who have telephoned and asked for paper copies, simple.
not at all, it may get more difficult for them. In the case of the census they must complete it by law so even if they do it by post they'll be known so obviously not "airbrushed out of existence"
I imagine there was point that those who went to work on a horse may have felt that they don't want one of these new fangled auto mobiles! Even today you can legally go to work on a horse but there may not be livery facilities about so it's not really practical. The same thing is happening with computers.
"There is a free phone number on the letter I received, in fact the number is also repeated at the end of the letter " - what if I only have a carrier pigeon?

Do you possess the strength of will and several hours to spend sitting on 'hold'?

Plenty don't!
So what solution do you recommend, Andy?
Andy, it is an automated service to request the paper copy, so not that much waiting

fair question hoppy, Andy, what do you suggest?
Andy, how do you know you will be on the phone a long time, have you rung the number?
It's almost impossible to get through to anyone these days and I suspect (although I don't know for sure) that you would be given options i.e do you require a paper form press a certain number then you may be asked to say your access code and then the form would be sent to you.
I don't know any of this for sure, but it could be a possibility.
At least they are taking into account that not everyone has access to the internet.
Ah, chelle got there before me.
There may be loads of people who DO have a computer, but would prefer a paper copy, so I don't see the problem with providing a web address
Yours is a better written answer than mine though barsel :)
Isn’t the solution just to fill in the form?
If you hadn’t received the form by post you wouldn’t know about the online option anyway.
ich, thereis no provision to fill in the form you receive. It just has instructions on how to complete the census online.
Ah. Sorry.

On a lighter note:
I had a text today about booking a vaccination.
There were options presented: a local venue with “appointments available” and the same venue with “no appointments available”
So I chose the first .
^danny, this was discussed some time ago...apparently, some people are getting the whole form first-off (I suspect it's those that chose paper form last time)
Mine was the full booklet, just sent to me I didn't request it. 32 pages though because there's only me only half needs doing. If I hadn't received a paper copy I would have requested one.
