Prince Harry and Meghan are in the news again today as it's reported they have moved to Santa Barbara and also the release of the book Finding Freedom.
I have been wondering for some time if members of the Royal family are likely to read this book and also if they read the amount of criticism that this couple receive in the media, or perhaps they are more selective in what they read.Your thoughts please.

//It comes as royal expert Katie Nicholl said the authors may be the 'only winners' from the publication of Finding Freedom.

Writing in Vanity Fair, she asked if the book was 'worth it for Harry and Meghan' before adding: 'The irony of Finding Freedom is that, locked down in their rented mansion in LA, the Sussexes have less freedom than they did when they lived in Windsor.'//

//The author's note appears to acknowledge that the writers worked with the couple on the biography, reading: 'We have spoken with close friends of Harry and Meghan, royal aides and palace staff (past and present), the charities and organisations they have built long-lasting relationships with and, when appropriate, the couple themselves.' //

Right.....so a book 'about' them rather than anything actually endorsed, or written, by them?

Just another in a long list, I imagine.
Retro// 'We have spoken with close friends of Harry and Meghan, royal aides and palace staff.
Can't see any mention of Harry of Meghan there.False news.
they will have someone to read and precis it for them I presume.
My B-I-L wrote a book about his life growing up, and I couldn't help but read it (it was free on the kindle otherwise I woudnt have). I was outraged by it!
weren't you in the index, bednobs? I fear I'm not in H&M's.

The author's note appears to acknowledge that the writers worked with the couple on the biography, reading: 'We have spoken with close friends of Harry and Meghan, royal aides and palace staff (past and present), the charities and organisations they have built long-lasting relationships with and, when appropriate, the couple themselves.'
still not seeing any evidence that they're promoting the book (or have helped write it).

''and when appropriate the couple themselves''
does that not cover it Danny?
"weren't you in the index, bednobs? I fear I'm not in H&M's"
nah, it was before I met mr nobs but the things he said about his mum made me very glad she wasn't alive to read it
it doesn't say when, Baldric, or on what subject. Talked to them at a supermarket opening once, maybe? "Nice weather today, sir." "Yes, isn't it?"
when appropriate, the couple themselves is such weasly words. It could mean it was never appropriate. it could mean the author shouted out a question through their front door, or over the fence and they told her to bu@@er off
that "when appropriate" tag is the same as "save up to 50%" Up to includes the figure zero...and even minus figures... and "when appropriate" can mean never or a good morning which may not have even been noticed. "We spoke to them" doesn't mean "they spoke to us"
lol snap bedknobs
and snap Jno
They did not write the book and I do not see them promoting a book but more being harassed by the gutter press
I wonder if the 'when appropriate' quote means that the couple were asked to verify certain incidents?
doubt it ken
Question Author
All I can say is, I've read accounts from people who have read the book, that there are incidents that only H&M would know about therefore, those people believe that they did co-operate in the writing of the book. This wasn't my original question, so there's not a lot I can say. I just wondered whether this would be something the RF would read and whether they are aware of the criticism aimed at the couple.
I doubt they'd read it, it's not going to say much about themselves that's nice. But I'll bet all their staff are doing so and ready to spill the beans "when appropriate".
Should we infer that if Harry & Meghan do not sue the authors for inaccuracies and/or invasion of privacy, then this litigious couple have offered tacit approval for the book?
