It seems intercepted here generally means 'escorted to safety on English soil'. I hope the Commons Committee can find out why so many want to flee from safety in France and can find a solution which doesn't mean us taking most of them in and encouraging even more to try. If the migrants are hoping to escape the Covid spike in France they may be disappointed.

" Labour's shadow home secretary Nick Thomas-Symonds said the government suffered from a "lack of competence" over migrant crossing. He said the crisis was "deeply concerning".

He is right, but seemed to stop short of suggesting a solution.
They are being put up in four star hotels. What's not to like?
Is there a solution?
Theland - are they?
Indeed. No reporters allowed near them.
Theland, I'd like to know more about the four-star hotels part. Where did you learn of that?
Nigel Farage YouTube video. All hush hush. Mainstream media are silent. A conspiracy maybe?
This is where it comes from. How true it is would be very difficult to find out since the Government doesnt give out the details which itself leads to suspicion of course.

Whatever the figure - it is too much.
We need fast track repatriation and tear up the human rights act.
The problem is our 'too generous' benefits system. It is well known the immigrants are told how wonderful it is by the traffikers and indeed it is more than they would get in Europe.

We have always been told that we cant not give them the benefits becasue of the EU. I'd like to know the reason now because the silence is deafening. There is also an issue with Bliars HRA created to fund his Missus - that needs amending to stop the pond life briefs spending years appealing using public money.

What we should do is put them into internment camps, removing the children to better accommodation while their case is assesed. If found to be an illegal migrant rather than an asylum seeker then they should be removed immediately and appeal from the country they came from (or France). For those we dont know where they came from they need to remain in the internment camps.

News would soon spread the UK is no longer the land of Milk and Honey.
I agree TheLand - you posted whilst I was writing my rant.
High blood pressure now :-(

YMB 07:48, BA!
ummmm: "is there a solution?" of course there is but the libfac mafia and hand wring central will spit their organic peace porridge all over their screens. See the post at 07:48. Feel free to go into contrarian mode.
we should stop confusing the HRA with actual Human Rights, it's function is to provide Cherie Blair and her buddies with a rich stream of income, it has nothing to do with actual human rights, the human rights we already gave and received before the "human rights" were much better. Now we have criminal scum demanding their kasi faces the right way!
I think you're wrong, TTT. Even the most left of lefties don't want illegal economic migrants arriving on our shores.
What is libfac?
