Danny Rose tells of years of being stopped for driving a car, travelling 1st Class on a train, etc.

And there are ABers who claim racism is dead.

Sadly, racism will never die.
I watched an interview on the BBC with a black solicitor. He'd been stopped loads of times for no reason. It was simply because he was black and drove a nice car....he must be a drug dealer or something.
While in India I experienced racism on a daily basis. It didn’t bother me one jot. If your different from the indigenous people, your more noticed.
David, take a knee & repent while you can.
That is not an acceptable attitude.
Agree with WBM and DS.
One of our most prominent local pubs practises it in a way. Not based on colour.
The police are guided by experience, but despite popular misconception racism isn’t the sole preserve of white people. That said, the world is full of ‘isms’ and the like. Think of your own pet ‘ism’, Allen…. you know, your utter distain for people you don’t know but nevertheless perceive to be on the opposite side of the political spectrum to yourself. That appears to induce a considerable outpouring of unfathomable vitriol. Funny old thing is human nature.
Why are so many stopped in the first place? A nice car which hasn't been reported as stolen, hasn't been involved in any crime or accidents and is being driven safely. Why is it stopped?

The article says they had a report there were concerns over how the car was being driven.

Whilst I guess there IS a racist element to it London has more stop & searches (of all ethnicities) than anywhere else and also has more black residents than anywhere else in the UK. So black people are more likely to be stopped there.
in order to determine if this is "racism" we'd need the statistics on how many times the police are correct when they stop someone under suspicion of law breaking.
//Why are so many stopped in the first place?//

Unfortunately the innocent are sometimes inconvenienced, but if experience teaches that purveyors of drugs, for example, are very often found within a specific section of the community it makes sense to seek them out there. Similarly, it makes sense to look for Islamic extremists among Muslim communities. Hardly rocket science.
yes, naomi, elegantly hits the nail on the head. Innocent non Caucasians have only their not so innocent counterparts to blame if they get more attention from plod.
Stereotyping and racism go hand in hand. Old school redux.

// but despite popular misconception racism isn’t the sole preserve of white people//

but of course - "saying it is elsewhere, so ...." is a complete non sequitur and by and large irrelevant to white supremacy

but hey ! let us divert the subject !

Well, if I listed the world’s ‘races’ (a discredited theory but popular until very recently), I would have to write Caucasian, Mongolian, and Negroid. Let’s see if I get away with that.
on a particular project some years ago our plant hire desk was run by a lady who was a Sinhalese Sri-Lankan. she was perhaps one of the most racist people I've ever worked with, particularly when it came to men called "singh"......
