What exactly do you think was wrong with it? It could have said black, yellow brown, pink, purple etc etc but because it said "white" then people have taken offence, why?. White lives do matter, all lives do

Apart from your school motto, English is fine.
Or don't you want to be understood?
theelie
black ghetto areas and white banners - no possible connection - except you see it on AB

seek and ye shall find - who said that?
Αἰτεῖτε, καὶ δοθήσεται ὑμῖν· ζητεῖτε, - it looks as tho you find a bit more from what follows ζητεῖτε, is 'ye shall live' I think
Sigh!
O stulte puer
Bonum videre aliquem
// Or don't you want to be understood?//

that is the most AWFUL libel - you mean our great Prime Minister Bonker Boris - who read greats at Oxford (*) is invomprehensible ?

he sBB that is ! said in the commons - to the common man
I must say he's showing complete "ignoratio elenchi" @BorisJohnson

the surprisingly thing is that elenchi is a loan word in Latin borrowed from the greek - meaning error OR correction depending on the context

(*) did Latin at uni - but you will say - itls all Greek to me!

theelie do you have ANY idea how long I spend finding these things out - timewasted compared to the truths I cd drink deeply of at any AB thread ?
thank you thank you Jackie
efkaristoooo
efkasirstoooo koorie
that is
Hey Jarkie - do you realised that I got 92% in my unseen Latin translation at O level
that was 1966
and I seem to be stuck in the remaining 8%
Just publish the menu from the Oriental Delight Chinese restaurant, it ma!es as much sense to me.
If you are interested in communicating ideas, then do so
in a common language.

Im actually descended from irish immigrants. The former slaves were exactly that, couldnt go anywhere had no rights, the list was endless. The windrush people were brought here yes but didnt have to stay, they could have gone back to their homeland im sure but majority seemed to have stayed.
I agree with many elements of Ken's posts but also with YMB re. the 'All Lives Matter' banner which probably would've been more appropriate.

Having said that as a kind of non-white person myself, I do not take offence of the 'White Lives Matter'. It's just retaliation.
should have said ... " too " at the end .
white = black , no more , no less .
what will the reaction be when a white person is killed by a black criminal ? i suspect it won't get quite the same publicity .
we seem to be governed by minorities , black , gay ,
trans etc etc .. i have no problem with any category but each should be fairly represented , not weighted too heavily .
as for comments like joshua , this is tantamount to incitement . i would happily shop with a black trader if he was nice & sold what i want . to boycott all white traders is simply stupid & hateful .. stick to boxing ( unless they are fat flabby & white ( ruiz )
As fascinating as all this is, I think we should not lose sight of the fact that users of this site are predominantly from the UK and not from Rome in the first century BC or from Greece. The Prime Minister, btw, is Boris Johnson and not Marcus Tullius Cicero.
Hello PP, and good to see you having fun.

I don’t think the Aryan Bankers (nice turn of phrase by the way) appreciate your humour, mind. (And my Latin, 60-odd years old and pretty poor then, isn’t up to criticising your, how shall we put it, creative use of it).

But I enjoy your japes - and I’m heartened by the fact that even a dyed-in-the-tory can be outraged by the right-wing stupidity that passes for argument round here. I fear, though, that right-wing ‘thinking’ almost always leads down the jack-booted path.

Live well, Peter, and live long.

Maybe it is seen as being a counter-statement, and therefore an objection to, the black-lives-matter sentiment, one that attempts to make less of (reduce) the legitimacy of the insistence that black lives do matter, that they matter enough for them not be summarily snuffed out. White lives are not being almost routinely wiped out - that is the difference which those less sympathetic to "black lives matter" seem to ignore. I cannot see any inference in the BLM statement that white lives do not matter just that there should be parity which is clearly missing in the USA (where all this started and belongs more than in many other countries).
//should have said ... " too " at the end .//

Not really. It didn't add "too" or "only". It takes a special kind of paranoia to add on the rest of a phrase in your own mind and then be offended by yourself.
//what will the reaction be when a white person is killed by a black criminal ? i suspect it won't get quite the same publicity .//

I'm sure I heard that 3 white men had been killed by a non white man. I don't think there have been any riots or any damage to black or Asian owned property and it is now banished to a few lines on the middle or back pages because we have a "banner headline" to fret about. More coppers were alerted to "investigate" the banner than can be warranted. But they sadly could not find a Tommy Robinson connection.
Murder is obviously just as horrendous either way... but missing the point, as personal anecdotes generally do. This is about systemic racism, not that it's fine to murder white people.
What you on about Togo? You’re new definition of ‘non-white’ now includes Lebanese? Or are all sun-tanned people on your list?

The man was a christian, and mentally disturbed - surely enough to qualify for the White Will Win party...
In the 2011 census, the percentage of black people in the population was 3%. Even if it has doubled, I don't feel their perceived grievances should dominate the media and sport in this country. Everyone matters.
//Lebanese? //

when did Tripoli cede itself to Beirut, Allen?
