The President cleared the room when he admitted taking hydroxychloroquine.
He had also found a doctor to prescribe it

and MY question is : if a relative did that and died - would you complain to the authorities ( GMC and courts here ) that the doctor had NOT acted in the patients ( your relative that is!) best interests and should pay you ( the estate ) much moolah and lose his licence

Note to help posters - hydroxyChlor does NOT have a licence to be used in warding off covid

Now you're just being silly again. I think we're better off without you.

Sorry, no link.
I was thinking of an item on Radio 4s, The World at One, some time ago.

// he says it was the White House doctor who has prescribed it for him. The doc didn't suggest he took it, //
would not wash as a defence in dear old Blighty for rather obvious reasons -

Naomis post - Hi naomi ! luckily the lady was too busy to read what I had written before
"Brazilian chloroquine study halted after high dose proved lethal for some patients. Concerns grow as the journal Nature raises alarm on serious heart risks associated with Covid-19 patients taking the drugs"
so I can just repeat it
Brazil study was plenty plenty high ( = a lot to you illiterate proles) 500 mg twice a day when the malarial prophyllaxis does is 500 one a WEEK ! - and heart stopping doses. pun intended ! and they were dying when their hearts er stopped

so no there arent plenty plenty trials on going and they dont know the intermediate results....I love it when AB has a statement and then a correction to the complete opposite the next day

Good example of lab work doesnt work on the ward - the inhibition of chloroquine on viral replication is 70% in a test tube which kinda implies it SHOULD work

Many thanks all for a good tempered thread ( for a change)

No one has answered my quezzie - what would you do if a relative started chloroquine ?
just shrug say yes and ask where the will is?

Oh and we dont know the dose he is taking

and if you were a Trump employee ( which means in the federal govt hur hur hur) you would be mad to suggest it !
He is busy getting rid of old feds and putting in place-men
which means that if Biden gets in, he will have to fire them all over again

Oh, readers another first
previously the President ( Mr Trump that is!) was coming out with the usual - extending the overton window ( coming out with "Mehicans are all rapists" and he (trumpo se) "had built a great warl which had kept the chinese out and their viruses")
and the hacks sat there mute - showing THEY had not extended the overton window and said " really Mr President what a load of rot!"

and this time for the first time - they did
when he said - I take it!
there were howls of dismay and disbelief

for the first time - it hasnt happened before

Does anyone out there know who controls the White House feed? that is - is there a mute button a White House loyalist can press when the meeting doesnt go the presidents way?
The Brazilian trial was abandoned because they were giving double doses to half the patients who, somewhat unsurprisingly, showed negative effects.
Still, glad to see you've stopped citing the ridiculous trial in the Vet Hospital.
I'll make a Trump fan of you yet, pp.

//Still, glad to see you've stopped citing the ridiculous trial in the Vet Hospital. \\ Spicey.

"The claim on social media is false as the study does exist. On April 21, Reuters reported that an analysis of Veterans Health Administration (VA) data had found that hydroxychloroquine provided no benefit and led to a potentially higher risk of death for coronavirus patients at U.S. veterans hospitals"

The presidents habit of saying "there was one and it worked!" is called a n=1 trial = and does have a place in medical lit
where is clearly subject to opinion and debate

but thank you for reading my posts and following the,
so few people do
Question Author
er yeah if you say so .....
//Naomis post - Hi naomi ! luckily the lady was too busy to read what I had written before //

Not Naomi's post.
Question Author
oops My apologies Naomi
I clearly should have said - - 'someone'
Question Author
altho the beeb were astonished
his doctor notified the media that "both patient and doctor thought it was on the balance of evidence in the patients interests"

this again might not comply with English law and registration procedures ( the course of action has to be slightly more er lofical)
I wonder if there's any truth to the rumour that the speed-reading expert and renowned wordsmith (he has some of the best words), El Presidente, mistook anti malarial for anti Melania when looking for a little respite in the boudoir department.

Fake noos no doubt. :-)
PP, No, you shouldn’t have said that either. I said nothing. I posted a link.
Thanks for BA, petey. I fancy it will open the floodgates. I'll stop being beastly to you all day.
Question Author
Anti melania - thank you Doug

De nada.
Question Author
Spicey - I thought it apt and topical - clearly the best.
and oh dear - one stops being beastly to me and almost immediately following - someone starts !

I think the greatest man in the world has not told us his dose - (one tab a day - looks like 400 - prophylactic dose for malaria is one a week)
It's up to him what he takes. He's old enough to make himself aware of any potential risks and benefits. If anyone decides to copy him that's their business too.
Question Author
// It's up to him what he takes. //
erm no it isnt actually
that is why you have doctors and prescriptions

and so no .... you cant go to a Dr and say - hmm I wd like to have a full course of chemotherapy for leukaemia even tho I dont have leukaemia.

or - - I must have appendicitis, take out my appendix !
// It's up to him what he takes. //
//erm no it isnt actually

erm yes it is actually, at least with regards to Hydr... He's decided he wants to take it and a doctor has prescribed it for him.
