A bit of a dud article.
Of course business want the lockdown to end, as most people do. The fact that they have given the Conservatives money doesn’t necessarily mean they will be listened to over the medical and statistical evidence of keeping lockdown.
The Government made a big mistake by introducing social distancing far too late. They feared damage to the economy so they did nothing for a month. That led to the virus spreading, and long term, that will harm the economy far more and lockdown here will probably be longer than some of our European neighbours.
The UK data is a mess and very unreliable, but it is clear that the number of deaths and new contagions is still far too high to ease restrictions, despite what Boris’ immoral and self interested backers want.
Boris brought in restrictions far too late, he won’t make the mistake of easing them too early.

I agree that this is a duff and possibly mischievous article.
The lockdown is harmful to many, not just “Tory donors”.
I dislike this “it’s either or” the economy or saving lives. That’s a false opposition. It’ll be a trade off as it always is in life.
And the lockdown was not about stopping the virus or stopping people from dying - quite a lot have died since it started: but spreading the deaths out by slowing the spread.
Hopefully with the PM back we will get away from the “dither drift and delay” that’s been notable in his absence.
Brave political decisions need making with less buck passing to scientists.

The Sunny Sun and or Mirror was up to its hocks in debt ( owed mucho mucho - to you ignorant proles)
and lobbied very heavily for lower bank rates
at a time that it would do the papers overdraft a lot of good but would be inflationary and therefore bad for the rest of us
and read the articles and didnt doubt his rich frenz and backers were demanding a pay off
