I am sorry for her, I hope she gets better soon.
I wonder if the PM has been tested?
I should imagine the PM will be tested very soon, if he hasn't already.

I suppose it's not surprising that a Health Minister is the first MP to test positive. We can only hope it ends there.
She may enjoy a positive result for a change.
Does anyone know out of all the confirmed cases, here or abroad, how many have recovered? I think a little positive news would be helpful.
118,000 confirmed total cases, of which 65,000 recovered and 4,200 died.
Mostly in China I take it? I've not heard of high mortality rates anywhere else. Where do your figures come from?
Had she recently been abroad?

She was at Downing Street with the priminister and lots of others at International Womens Day. So all to be tested, presumably..
Nadine is making a good recovery it's said.
Thanks Jim. I'll look at that tomorrow.
// Does anyone know out of all the confirmed cases, here or abroad, how many have recovered?//

well the case fatality ratio is around 2% which means that 98% are expected to recover and or are still aliv e and that is around therefore 98 000

incredibly the case fatality rate in 1918 in spanith flu was around 2% but alot got ill immediately - 'on monday the 'flu hit the barracks etc' and the majority dying were young men

CDC say that 136 children have died 2019-20 from flu B but I am not sure if any have died from corona

America land of the free etc doesnt seem to have a public health system. Health is a sector of industry just like steel or mining so containment is a concept which has no physical reality. Also the lucky sufferers have to co-pay and thirty states hve no sick pay system. it will interesting to see how that pans out

It's not flu.
Jim360 if it's not flu it's not the end of world either
Jim, I changed my mind and looked tonight. I can't access your first link but as expected the vast majority of deaths have occurred in China. 3024 out of 4,200 worldwide.... so a little over a thousand in the rest of the world in total have died. I really think we need to keep a sense of proportion and start thinking rather more positively - if the doom mongers will allow it.
No, but... there's a lot of space between "the end of the world" and "nothing to worry about". Already some thousands have died and we're still at the beginning of the outbreak.
// I've not heard of high mortality rates anywhere else.//
4% isnt high - virtually none below 60y 1% 60-70 and 2% over seventy

ebola 80%, MERS 60% even untreated typhoid is 10%
the thing about SARS and MERS is that it just stopped - just as seems to be happening in Wuhan - 10 000 case in a city of 11 m
How the hell was this allowed to happen?
