I’d have been the same had I not known it first hand sanmac :0/
There you go, so not everyone would have known the answer.
all I know about Sheppey was that sailor who was 'impounded' from causing the RNLI more problems, somewhere around Bude, having brought them out x times down the Channel and around the Lizard and Lands End.

Apparently, he had left London and was told to keep the Isle of Sheppey on his starboard.....three circumnavigations of the said Isle and he was brought in.....
Ask Ed to move the thread tomorrow, Moderators can't do it.

I feel very naughty this being in News Help, Andy ,Chris anyone
Mamya, with fracking, the Isle of Wight may have moved already.....
Little known fact is that the Hebrides was the very first place in the whole world to allow same sex marriage.
Better than Hebridean sheep perhaps??
Question Author
I thought Hebrides and Isle of Skye would have been a dead giveaway Prudie but what do I know, I can’t even get the category right
Bobbisox, I didn't know that Sheppey was in Kent, so it's NEWS to me, and probably others:)
Question Author
Are you making me feel better san? Hehe ( fanks)
I agree Bobbi, I couldn't believe she didn't know it either - but having lived in Kent and Hampshire Wight and Sheppey were very well known to me so I guess that helps.

//sorry to digress Bobbi - but I cannot warm to Jeremy Clarkson. Millionaire is not the same without Chris //

I much prefer Jeremy Clarkson to Chris Tarrant. I enjoyed the original series with Chris Tarrant but have been watching 2002 repeats on the Sony Channel( Not through choice. Wifes :-( ) and am bored stiff. I enjoy Clarkson's laconic humour.

Clarkson's humour is quicker and sharper and he appears not to suffer fools gladly.
Retro, are you the intrepid old-salt who was mentioned at 2039?:)
probably, and he went around in reverse gear.....then ABers have unknown talents.....
No not me that time.I once did a night sail to the Scillys and was told to change course by the instructor/skipper at a certain bearing to Wolf Rock Lighthouse. He told us the flash sequence as put in the Silk Cut Almanac. Alas the almanac was about 5 years out of date and we sailed straight past the lighthouse sequence. The Skipper had retired to his bunk about 7 hours earlier. When he arose and came up to the aft cockpit at about 0930 we were in a fog bank and he wanted to know where we were . We admitted we were lost and had missed the lighthouse sequence. We had to get the RDF system out and get a radio signal from St Marys. On doing a reverse bearing we found we were extremely lucky to have sailed through the most treacherous waters without foundering on reefs during the night.
The Silk Cut Almanac gave us the wrong navigation flash sequence as it was outdated.

.... what about the guy who didn't know what the tog rating was used for??
Luckily for him, 94% of the audience knew it was used on duvets :)
Question Author
Haha and he was a teacher GM :0/
Yeah that was a shocker, apart from duvets isn't it used to describe puffy jackets, ski-wear etc etc?
Question Author
Yes it is Prudie :0/
