And the parents should be ashamed, in fact one such mother was just on GMTV , her dress was nearly around her thighs.
Just wear your uniform because when you eventually enter the work force, there's rules to be adhered to that you'll have to follow!

I think girls wearing trousers as part of their school uniform is a sensible idea. It's nearly impossible to enforce a skirt length - think of the outrage if girls were made to kneel down to check if the skirt touched the floor as was the practice. It would have been much more sensible if this schools head had kept gender out of the equation.

As if the police haven't got better things to do. I can see the schools point to a degree. But let me take you back to the sixties. Everyone wears a uniform, part of that uniform= boys trousers, girls either trousers or skirts, if that skirt was deemed as to short, they where sent home to change, job done. You don't make everyone suffer because of one or two idiots, so in my view the school is at fault, but as for a demo outside the school, madness. Girls don't want to be wearing trousers in hot summer anyhow unhealthy.
Link to keep both threads together so other opinions aren't lost.

Bednobs I've tracked back on this thread but can't see anyone has said that, have I missed it?
Teacake said it. First answer on this page!

The things they do for the muslims. Have they had the 'Wear a Hijab' day in Lincolnshire yet?
I thought the problem was that the pupils were being told that they 'had' to wear gender-neutral uniforms in order to accommodate the feelings of a few gender-neutral pupils. If the school is against short skirts why don't they implement a policy of having to have skirts of a certain length. Then if the pupils didn't comply they would be suspended. They shouldn't be altering the uniform to suit a handful of pupils.
Exactly what I said on the original thread.
// Parents were in a lather about that because banning such tops was sexualising young girls.//

I agree that honb weaaring ffor little gurlz under ten sexualises them

[And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms…” (24:31)]
Anyway what about the boys changing into females ,they would probably want to wear a skirt.

Sorry bednobs, I see it now :0)
No worries bobbisox, it just seemed a very strange thing to say. I have worn trousers for all but 1 day of the last rolling year, and my trousers have never made me ill! I did have a cold a couple of months ago, but I really don't blame the trousers for that!
Like roopower has said, they should have kept gender out of the description. What *is* gender neutral? I'm not sure trousers are, as "traditionally" they are seen by many to be male clothing.
Just set uniform standards for all students.
As for girls being uncomfortable in trousers in hot weather...what about the lads? Maybe shorts for everyone?
At my granddaughters school, most of the girls wear trousers. In fact my granddaughter rather wear trousers.
But seriously, the choice should be up to the child.
I'm glad they didn't make me wear trousers when I was at school, I hated them and much preferred wearing a skirt.
//The things they do for the muslims. Have they had the 'Wear a Hijab' day in Lincolnshire yet?//

You're obsessed man. Nothing on this thread (apart from your entry) has anything to do with Muslims, or any other religious belief.
Whatever it states on your birth certificate is what the school go's by. Whatever they care to be outside school is up to them, and what they care to dress in. I don't see what the problem is with deciding on the length of a skirt, weather they be tall, short, tiny, plump or thin, its simple, knee length, slightly above or slightly below as always been the norm for a school skirt, after that its up to the teacher/ head to decide if anyone is breaking that rule. There could be many girls at that school who bought new skirts towards the end of last term, 2 or 3 in fact, so is the school going to bear that cost?
Bednobs, Lets just say a summer skirt is more hygienically suited for a girl, in your case you are happy to wear trousers, but not everyone is, and that is the problem at this school at present. Also it is a lot more comfortable for a girl sitting at a desk all day to wear a skirt.
I must be being really dim but what does "hygienically suited" mean?
