/// Robinson’s offense was to film and name suspects in a grooming gang trial. This was illegal, and might have caused a mistrial, but, as his supporters point out, the British press has a long history of doing worse. Perhaps more convincingly, they also argue that had Robinson been a hard-left ‘activist’ rather than a ‘far-right’ bigot or racist, the left-wing press and the BBC that now assail him would be defending him as a fearless ‘citizen journalist’, talking ‘truth to power’. ///

How true is that?

And why is he in a high security prison, he should be in an open prison, if at all.

What should be will be circumvented by the opinions of those that have control.
"This was illegal". And oh dear, he's been sentenced for it.

So let's just claim "somebody else started it", and invent what would happen if somebody else did it - that should prove mathematically and irrefutably how unfair it all is.
I'll try the 'Someone has done something worse' defence next time I'm in trouble.

I agree he shouldn't be in a high security prison.
He’s lost 40lbs? 30lbs of that was hot air .
Most prisoners get sent to high security jails to start with.
Maybe he is in a high security prison for his own protection from any Muslim prisoners.
AOG, as I never tire of telling you - pointing out that something is worse that the point under discussion does not negate the wrong done by the perpetrator of the crime being discussed.

The British press understand and obey the law involving news blackouts, 'Tommy Robinson' chose not to, and is in prison because of it.
I can't stand Tommy Robinson....but I had a smile when I read the title of this OP quickly...... :-)
Ah yes, but for the deletion of a space ….
Robinson was charged and convicted on three accounts: breaking reporting restrictions , causing distress to the defendants and I can't remember the third.

Many journalists have been convicted of the first offence. How many have been jailed? None. I'll say that again for the hard of comprehension: NONE.

So I have to assume that the serious bit which got him banged up was "upsetting" rapists.

Have I got that right?

A question addressed to all more ons out there.

AOG, to answer your question about the type of Prison he's in,

/// ‘Everyone knows that the UK prisons are overrun by gangs, Muslim gangs in particular, which is why he couldn’t be in the general population, and why he couldn’t eat food sent to solitary confinement in Onley ///

That was lifted straight from the link you supplied in the OP,
Just can't think how you missed it.
gness & andy hughes; I bet he knows how to spell, moron.
a) Not very.
b)Because that is where most prisoners usually start off.

Have you failed to read/understand the bit of your OP where it says...
///This was illegal, and might have caused a mistrial.....///?

Because that is the absolute heart of the matter.

Enjoying the San Giovese. Don't think much of the steak. Nona Rosa Uxbridge.

c) last journalist jailed for causing a mistrial?
...which is absolutely the "heart of the matter".
Lovely novel, by the way. Any other Grah Greene fans out there?
As do I, Khandro....I also know how to spell Prince of Wales...... :-)
'and might have caused a mistrial...'

But didn't as was proved in 2 previous trials.
That's why they had to invent new charges for this trial.
Not content with that, they had to add their own interpretations of existing laws to completely change their meaning.
"You say 'potato', I say 'self-aggrandising muppet who was already on a suspended since the last time he did the same thing'...
You say 'tomato', I say 'bleating fool who needs to work out the legal boundaries of his actions *beforehand*....
