If the US/UK relationship is about us meekly accepting whatever the US, and its president, wants, then it's worth getting it off to a bad start.

I assume you're playing Devil's Advocate here, ZM?
o come on AOG you dear thing
before you clocked on this morning
you didnt know Vaclav Havel was a president AND playright
had written a hit play
which was televised with Murray Melvin who looks like the groom in that van eyck painting, and warren mitchell possible jail bird
and that there was a fictitious office language called ptydepe

who says that stupid old duffers cant learn things ?
me me - I was referring to me .....
I can only repeat what I said to someone somewhere else: it’s pretty pointless with someone like Trump trying to avoid upsetting him.
What’s the betting a week later he’d have forgotten all about it and be calling Sir Kim a wonderful person :-)
I am not sure if it applies in other countries but all new ambassadors to the UK are presented to HMQ with their 'Letters of Credence '
I wonder if Sir Kim Darroch had to undergo such ceremony in the states?

Well the likes of you break the rules with regularly impunity and get away with it, so I thought that I would give it a try, just to join in you understand?

But on a serious note, it is because of the likes of you dishing out insults without any punishment, that it becomes the norm with others, seeing that they can't be doing anything wrong.
Give it a rest for Gawds sake. We're all bored of you picking on stupid irrelevances instead of joining in the main debate. A less kind person than myself might suggest it was because you lacked the wherewithal to do so.

You derail your own threads more often than not.
'it’s pretty pointless with someone like Trump trying to avoid upsetting him'

No point in exacerbating an already delicate situation tho. We'll need the US after Brexit, especially with a hard one and Boris will need to be 'mates' with Trump. On the surface at least.

It is not I who derails my threads, but you with your almost non understandable twaddle, but what I can't understand is the fact that you continue to get away with it.
I just don’t see that it makes any odds with Trump. We should be defending our own, not pandering to someone with the attention span and grasp of dare I say it a pregn... ...... :-)
It is YOU who derails threads, AOG!!
Trump is the leader of the country which is our closest ally.Do we really want to put that alliance in jeopardy by upsetting him?
Best thing he could have done.
Naomi// Best thing he could have done.//
Who please?
LOL, Ich. Boris has to put aside any personal opinions of Trump for the good of the country after 31st Oct.
danny, Sir Kim Darroch, the subject of this thread.
ZM, Boris claims that he has a good relationship with Donald Trump.Do you want him to put that aside?
Thanks Naomi.
Erm....no danny. That's exactly why I'm saying he didn't defend Sir Kim....to maintain that relationship.
I strongly disagree with that.
Quite apart from the notion that after October 31 we are going to be at the mercy of Donald Trump.
Things are not that bad surely :-)
