Pathetic and Crass. What does the BSAC and PADI use now for indicating all is ok to a dive buddy.
They used that signal long before the PC Gestapo materialised.
it's still in use right now, TTT, so feel free to use it yourself.

yes jno...but will I be labeled racist like the guy in the link? He's been banned from the ground because a common symbol now means something else as defined by TROB.
I have not heard of this, but I am relieved that it is the 'inverted' symbol that seems to cause issues.

I am already prevented from playing Gary Glitter songs at my discos, but if I had to lose Agadoo as well, I might as well pack up!!!
As you were - it's Superman!!

Question Author
Yes AH but it's the non inverted symbol that seems to be the one that they are moaning about, see JTT's link at 15:54. The guy in the link attracts the hysterics of TROB with the inverted version.
The gesture *is* the inverted version.....usually because it it configured with the hand held below the waist.
The white guy in the photo in your link, geezer, would have had to be down on his knees to have got a traditional 'okay' gesture into the photo.
Nowt hysterical really, want to signal 'OK' - do it right way up.
Question Author
so it wasn't the forbidden gesture then JTT? right oh!
What?!?

Well, it wasn't an 'okay' gesture, was it?
Question Author
It's not the one in your link is it?
What a load of rubbish.
Geezer - indulge me for a moment.....physically form the 'okay' symbol.
My guess is that your hand is up around shoulder level. That is the traditional 'okay' gesture and reflects the drawn diagram (illustrating the W and the P forming 'White Power').
However, dropping your hand to around/below waist level causes the gesture to invert.....and *that* is where it has become the 'racist' version.
Question Author
I know what you mean but, if it ain't the right way up it ain't the symbol is it? Try doing the V sign in a similar situation, you can't so you wouldn't bother, would you?
that isnt the OK signal which is .....
thumbs up

and in case you wonder four finger to the lips ( used to be a blown kiss ) is 'thank you ...' - you can put the two together

but hey ho this is AB
//that isnt the OK signal which is .....
thumbs up //

The OK signal isn't thumbs up ....but hey ho this is AB.
Quite.
You wouldn't bother trying to contort your hand into making an 'okay' symbol if you weren't able.....you'd do something else.
Which is why claiming the one in your original link is a traditional 'okay' gesture is nonsense.
It was a deliberate gesture to make a statement on camera.

You asked

//What does the BSAC and PADI use now for indicating all is ok to a dive buddy.//

They will use the okay symbol because it’s still fine to use that symbol.

There are a tiny minority of fools who have taken the symbol and tried to subveryt the meaning, but they are so insignificant and their reach is so minimal, that divers will still be able to use the hand signal for indicate that everything is alright.

Don’t listen to anyone who might tell you differently.

They are clearly moronic and are simply looking for attention.
// that's another parsec JTT, not much but but I don't want TROB labeling me racist if I do.//

jesus I think you could credibly plead in your defence, that it couldnt possibly be racist because no one could make out what you meant ...
