Pixie, some are proud to be English, others don't give a flying hoot, and don't see themselves as "British" but simply a human on the earth.
Then we get into why and who even st George is.. And the more you look into it the more deluded the whole thing is and the less it makes sense.
It's that simple to me. I've expressed that and have as much right to as others who express their proudness of the day and person.

I would be interested to know what all these people who are proud of essentially an accident of birth do to celebrate, or is it literally just a smug feeling inside?
I a very pleased i live in this country and it's great my country has added a lot to the world, but they aren't MY achievements, so i can't really understand the proud bit

The English honour the monarch and have a morbid fascination with all things Royal and what Prince loo-ee is doing today. The first family ( er mr Trump and the rest of the dishonourable lot) dont exert such a hold on the Americans
we swear allegiance to a person ( er the Queen that is !) which is anathema to the average american
so no the scots may well NOT feel the same as we do
