Lammy needs sacking at the least for calling Jacob Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson Nazis and also likens them to Hitler.

Surely that is much more serious than if either of the Tory MPs had called Lammy an Ape or a Ni**er even?

Why is it that this name calling only works one way?

/// but people would defend her if the name calling was 'Ape or a Ni**er' ///

And rightly so, but you don't quite get my point, in that case it would not be just a matter of defending her or any other black person, whoever called them in such a way would have the full force of the law down upon them, also rightly so.

/// JRM has been rightly defended against these nazi slurs. ///

That may be so, but the law hasn't been down on Lammy neither has he been taken to task by his Party and he still remains a Member of Parliament.
JRM recently declined to endorse the views of the German far right but retweeted one of their videos. The party's programme seems to call for Islam-free schools. That doesn't sound too far from the Nazi stance on Jews to me. If JRM wishes to call these people in aid he can expect this sort of criticism; that's politics.

You have after all compared the EU to Nazis, many times

And just the other day an ABer was calling mods Nazis.

Why so sensitive on behalf of poor wee snowflake JRM? Surely you'll be voting for his sister anyway?

jno

This is what Rees-Mog was agreeing with, and having listened to this from the German Far-Right party, who can disagree with what she says, only perhaps our Far-Lefties.

The comparison to Hitler and the Nazis is not accurate, and Lammy is silly to make it.
But I can’t help but think JRM was silly when he adopted the title of ‘Grand Wizard, of the ERG. I thought he was supposed to be educated. Surely he must have known that using KKK terminology would go down badly, and attract the condemnation that it has.
Gromit, JRM is clearly well educated. But I think he lacks common sense. A politician will inevitably be judged by the people he makes common cause with. If he quacks like a Klansman, people will think he is one, even if he protests that he was only saying what nice sheets they wear.
So you DO approve of Lammy's comment then jno.

Thought so.
But I can’t help but think JRM was silly when he adopted the title of ‘Grand Wizard, of the ERG.

Did he?
Have you a link?
jno; //The party's [AfD] programme seems to call for Islam-free schools. That doesn't sound too far from the Nazi stance on Jews to me.//

Can you give a link to that? As I said earlier, their manifesto is available in English online;

I too feel sorry for Mr Lammy, comparing a Parliamentary ginger group with an organisation and creed that killed six million Jewish people, it does, indeed, make him look foolish and his comments unbalanced. It would damage his reputation had he a decent one to spoil.

Read that link a while ago.

Have you got a link that supports what you have said?
Talbot
That link states
// These arch Brexiteers have decided to refer to themselves as the 'Grand Wizards'. The term was what the racist leaders of the Ku Klux Klan called themselves //

Which is what I posted previously.
So now you believe if it is in print it is true?

Have you heard JRM refer to himself as a grand wizard?
Does anyone take seriously anything said by David Lammy or Diane Abbot???
"Does anyone take seriously anything said by David Lammy or Diane Abbot???"

No. I was unfortunate enough to catch a snippet of Mr Lammy on Question Time a couple of weeks back. He is in serious need of some anger management treatment and after that a grounding in good manners.
"Surely that is much more serious than if either of the Tory MPs had called Lammy an Ape or a Ni**er even?"

That's not an equivalency.

What would be equivalent would be if Rees-Moog or Johnson had called Lammy a traitor or a member of VB.

But then again, only someone obsessed with race would default to calling Lammy and ape or the N word.
What people need to realise is for some people Lammy is black first, a politician second and a Labour politician third.

This will always be the case with some people.

But never mind.

Each to their own.
So Lammy is black. And black first?

A politician and con artist first and second - in either order. Lammy's singular and only skill is his ability to persuade fools to vote for him.

I understand tribal loyalties may supercede normal rational assessments, SP, but if I were black I'd be embarrassed by this clown. I'd be saying "nothing to do with mate".
..as in I happen to be black, but, unlike Lammy, I've been to school and I've got a brain.
