But for this utter savage it should be the rope or if we cannot have that full life, no parole ever.

Even after 27 years he will be able to live a life after raping and murdering this poor six year old, lets just hope the hand wringers have been expunged from any decision making by then.

andy-hughes, //The murderer has acted for a variety of reasons, but none of them include deliberated institutional murder by a group of people of sound mind //

That^ makes no sense... and do please stop preaching to people who disagree with you about civilised societies. We all have our opinions and those opinions do not necessarily render us uncivilised.
"those opinions do not necessarily render us uncivilised."

Who cares if they do? Ohh sorry i'm not civil and polite to a rapist, murdered and a paedophile all rolled into one.

Off with his head.
Naomi - // and do please stop preaching to people who disagree with you about civilised societies. //

I am not 'preaching' to anyone - but it's interesting how you and I both see each other as 'preaching' when our views digress.

// We all have our opinions and those opinions do not necessarily render us uncivilised. //

I am not suggesting that they do - I am suggesting that state murder makes the society that embraces it uncivilised.
And what spath is saying, uncivilised people don't deserve civilised punishments.
If after 2 years of his 25 years he screams and hollers for his mum and shouts he can't take it anymore. Incarceration is literally driving him stir crazy and he self harms etc etc. Is that not a form of torture that so many are against on this thread? This tortured tormented soul is going nuts. What do you advocate? Feed him sedatives for the rest of his stay? Turn him into a zombie?
A quick painless death is no torture, will put him out of his misery and costs only the hangman's fee (Rope and scaffold provided ex VAT).
andy-hughes, //I am suggesting that state murder makes the society that embraces it uncivilised. //

And I would suggest that condemning a child abuser and murderer to life imprisonment in order that he may suffer for his crimes is even more uncivilised. For the benefit of society we're civilised enough to put mad dogs out of their misery - and we're civilised enough to do it humanely.
As I described earlier. Not murder ,state or otherwise, but retribution.
Would you describe Mr Albert Pierrepoint as an abominable ,evil ,blood lusted killer and murderer.? He despatched with dignity and compassion with no suffering or botches. He was not a murderer.
the vile creature should never be released . Jamie bulgers killers should have also been locked away for life too .
He was a servant of a civilised society of the age. He was despatching those who had no place in their civilised society.
AH, your deliberate use of emotive language like 'murder' and 'vengeance' to describe capital punishment whenever these discussions arise is a bit silly.

How would you categorize what the armed forces or armed police do when they kill people - is that state sponsored murder as well?
I think he should be given a lobotomy....On a serious note of course he will be released at some point.
that's worse than a bullet in the brain lol
retrocop - // As I described earlier. Not murder ,state or otherwise, but retribution. //

The two are not mutually exclusive, a murder can be carried out as retribution, but that does not in itself stop the act being a murder.

// Would you describe Mr Albert Pierrepoint as an abominable ,evil ,blood lusted killer and murderer.? //

No because I am not in the business of bolstering my point with unstated and indeed unthought florid language, that is your addition, not mine.

// He despatched with dignity and compassion with no suffering or botches. He was not a murderer. //

According to the Cambridge dictionary, he was a murderer -

MURDER | meaning in the Cambridge English Dictionary

I thought the definition of murder was:

If it's legal, it isn't a crime, Andy... I have to agree with Naomi here. No need for torture and revenge, just get rid. I never used to agree with capital punishment, but in a few certain cases, it does seem the only civilised thing to do.
a minimum of 27 years - hopefully won't be out on parole.
It has been reported that he is a psychopath (BBC Scotland News @ 1.30) whose psychopathic tendencies weren't recognised in him as a child.
It may be possible that he may be moved to Carstairs (if that is still in existence as a Secure Mental what-not).

I feel for his mother.
yep how awful.

However, any terrorist, mass murder, rapist, paedophile.. they all have a mental illness, they must do to commit the illegal acts, so i mean.. regardless, it's not an excuse but i see how it could be a start to understanding.. Not that i want to.
who's excusing him or his actions?
It seems to be from the description on him, albs. Although there is a difference between people having mental illnesses and being criminally insane. It isn't automatically both.
