Well your point immediately afterwards (I considered calling him 'tanned' bloody stupid) was asking me about something I never said. So I'll ignore it.

There are various shades of tanning, when I had a short holiday in the south of England I was the colour of milky coffee. When I returned from living in the middle of the Pacific I was the colour of mahogany. Incidentally people with dark skins can also get a tan.
