Why? All we are doing is demonstrating that we are defenceless, no doubt on the altar of some elf n safetee BS.

I think they could be over reacting to what should have been dealt with IMO as you are saying. Get rid like that seeing that there aren't any aircraft flying within the vicinity and job done...too easy I suppose has got to be more involved than that??
Question Author
they are over the airport, bullet hits drone the whole lot hits the deck end of. Ok if they miss and a bullet lands somewhere. Surely that's better than disrupting an entire airport??
Again, you haven't bothered to read other threads.
Question Author
un twist your alans ummm, why do you follow me around to criticise? You sad woman.
People have been killed by stray gun shots
Question Author
yes but they are over an airport!
They just said on the 10pm news that they are considering shooting them down if it's safe to do so.
Better late than never methinks!
I would shoot it with a tracker. Like they do for elephants and stuff lol

Then see where it goes.

Mind you I think we shall se a few more drone buzzing along at airports around the world now that they realise what disruption they can cause.
Why would anybody want to own a drone?
They should be outlawed.
If I want to look at my roof, I could always be a licensed contractor.
But a drone flying over me when I am streaking?
Not cricket!

I've read all the other threads about shooting down etc and I do not accept all the reasons for not shooting them down. Low and behold plod has just announced they are going to shoot them down! Why did they not do that this morning?
Something like this may be possible?

Islam + Drones = bloody chaos!

Tony, we are in at the bottom on this, it wont be long before every airport has something like that. Necessity being the mother of invention.
On the rare occasions that UK police actually have to fire shots at people (who make relatively big, slow-moving targets) they usually do so from fairly close range. Even so,only around 20% of the bullets fired actually hit their targets. To hit a drone flying at several hundred feet you'd probably need to fire several hundred bullets. A .338 bullet (for example) can travel at least two miles, so that's going to be hundreds, or even thousands, of bullets landing on homes, schools, offices and roads near to the airport.

Even if you could manage to position your sharpshooters in such a way that they were only firing into the airport itself, there would still be plenty of aircraft, refuelling facilities, ground crew and passengers in the firing line. (High-powered bullets don't stop when they reach the windows of airport terminals. They go straight through, risking the lives of people inside)
^They did say if it's safe to do so.

Chico I'm talking about a skilled sniper not Rambo with a machine gun. Put him on the top of that tower in the middle and fire single shots when deemed as safe as possible. They'll be heading outwards with a single shot. Ok not 100% safe but better than disabling an entire airport indefinitely.
Could they not use another drone and shoot it down with weaponry on the 'good' drone?
Question Author
.... and more importantly, shooting them down sends a message, carry on like we are and all airports will be similarly parallised
