that's how the headline reads - but it's not how it was reported on TV last night, nor indeed is it said in the text of the article. The police are investigating not the refusal, but threats made after the event. and the driver wasn't dismissed for refusing to transport poppies, but for falsifying his job card.

all very strange, eh?

Were they driving the taxi in question, Togo?

HereIam - Don't fret.....I didn't think there'd be any sort of apology from you whatever happens; some people have integrity, and some don't.
Won't be fretting at all jth and totally unconcerned about what you think about me, as already indicated. Oh and I've changed my mind now, won't be apologising. Not that I would have to anyway ...
//Were they driving the taxi in question, Togo? //

What on earth are you dribbling about now.?
Togo - I know that you are doing your best to expand the thread onto the topic of 'disrespectful muslim behaviour' but it actually started off as as Taxi-driver who didn't do his job properly.

That's all.....

HereIam - Thanks, that's just what I meant.
I gave up on that tack earlier Jack, it's like plaiting fog.
You're welcome jth.
//Togo - I know that you are doing your best to expand the thread onto the topic of 'disrespectful muslim behaviour' but it actually started off as as Taxi-driver who didn't do his job properly. //sic

What on earth are you on about. My reference to the scumbags who robbed the poppy seller have nothing to do with the straw that you are clutching regarding the muslim taxi driver. Read the thread. Do keep up if possible.

*my italics

Quite; that's the point I have been making.
Mushroom's OP was about a Taxi-Driver and you have supplied links to entirely different events (although they all have a common theme).
I know you are inordinately anxious to post anything showing Muslims in a bad light, but there is *still* nothing to indicate that this driver was Muslim; and you having a 'feeling in your water' about it is not a convincing argument, I'm afraid.
I can’t drive any more - eye problems.

Lucky I’m not a muslim, innit?
//Mushroom's OP was about a Taxi-Driver and you have supplied links to entirely different events (although they all have a common theme).//

Explain the link between the muslim taxi driver and the poppy fund robbers. Perhaps you even have an insight into the likely provenance of the scumbag robbers? Or do you tacitly approve of their behaviour?
Lordy, you are hard work....

///Explain the link between the muslim taxi driver and the poppy fund robbers./// There is none. (And no evidence the Taxi-driver was a muslim).

///Perhaps you even have an insight into the likely provenance of the scumbag robbers? Or do you tacitly approve of their behaviour?///

That's beneath even you.....

We are SO lucky there aren’t any home-grown thieves, aren’t we?

Well, ALL foreigners are criminals, apparently, which makes them so much easier to spot.

Me? No, not a Muslim, nor a traveller, but my g.g.grandfather was from Leipzig...
Ahhh.. the sweet smell of prejudice in the morning
Whose prejudice would that be? People here - or the bloke who refused to take the poppies?
People here. People can refuse what they wish for their own reasons. Who cares?
// Ahhh.. the sweet smell of prejudice in the morning//.....
Apocalypse Soon - will be coming soon to a cinema near you !

has anyone mentioned Muslims fought in the Great War ?
Chavasse ( VC and bar) had a little helper also decorated I think, who was in the Indian Army ....( actually he was a Sikh but from the tone of this thread I wouldnt expect anyone to realise unless I told them)

[who didnt get a VC but they are not given away in clutches ar ethey]
// People here. People can refuse what they wish for their own reasons. Who cares?//

I was thinking that - actually the answer is no -
see the viddie of the blind man plus dog saying - the Law says you must take me
and the driver saying - I prefer not to - you know?
and giggling
He got fired and the taxi firm acknowledged ......

the freedom to do this and that is as usual not absolute but constrained by law....
spath, you care enough to criticise.
