The man was fat, stupid and belligerent. He was also against the window in a confined space, he would obviously have refused to co-operate and it would have required perhaps several men to extricate him and a brawl could have developed upsetting many other passengers.
The smart way would to have him disembark under his own steam and have him arrested on arrival, and as I've said above, his details broadcast to other carriers so he would not fly again.

Perhaps the cabin crew could have advised the female passenger of their intention to have the male passenger arrested in voices loud enough for him to hear - he would then have had the duration of the flight to consider his abominable behaviour.
The fact that he has been photographed will ensure that his loved ones and work colleagues will also know exactly who he is - so hopefully some appropriate shame and grovelling there as well.
