We hear an awful lot of guff about muslims suffering from hate-speech - now since 1st of Jan.a prisonable offence in Germany and spreading, - but who will speak up for the murder of thousands of Christians? Why are our politicians not saying more, (Nigel Farage excepted) , could it be that there are few votes to be gained from speaking out?

Thousands? Where are your figures coming from?
In general terms, each country/government can only legislate for people in that country and regarding events/conduct within its borders. Assuming you are referring to killings in the Middle East and generally outside Europe, that is up to the countries concerned so the question should be answered by them.
Slightly unfair perhaps:

And I have heard other politicians mention it :
the trouble is, there are not high profile things but carry on often unnoticed while more spectacular persecutions go on and take the media spotlight
I would hope the laws on hate, whether speech or crime is applicable to all.

Khandro, you really do troll your way through some carp.

Who will speak up for Christians?

What about Christians? They have the numbers, don’t they?
The Christian church has the resources to mobilise the defence of their faith.

What has the Vatican’s response been to persecution?

And what on earth is the point of a Twitter hashtag?
From ichkeria's link: //statistics from the International Society for Human Rights...suggest Christians are the victims of 80% of acts of religious discrimination in the world.//

I would suggest that if that applied to a different group it wouldn't be so easily dismissed and trivialised.
Khandro....I have heard politicians of all persuasions condemn the murder of Christian communities, on many occasions.

The pope tells us how more about how we should treat immigrants into Europe as if they were "Joseph and Mary" entering Bethlehem, but far less on the slaughter of Christians throughout the world.

Baldric; I find your continual insulting non-sequiturs to everything I say without ever addressing the subject itself, childish and boring, even ichkeria and ymfbg (normally sparring partners) have looked into this issue and come up with detailed answers - is this beyond your mental ability?
Baldrick is the same with most these days Khandro, I don't know what has happened to him, especially after all the support we gave him after his accident in 2016.
Excellent speech by MP Jim Shannon here which outlines some of the thousands being persecuted:

helps give a bit of context
//I would suggest that if that applied to a different group it wouldn't be so easily dismissed and trivialised//

Other groups organise themselves into lobby groups and effect change. Other groups stand up for what is right in the face of discrimination.

Other groups have been on (and still are) the receiving end of discrimination from religious groups.

If religious groups face discrimination, then they should do what other groups do. Stand their ground and demand equality.

...unless of course, they’re waiting for others to do it on their behalf.
sp, many of the people in question are living in countries where the majority culture is hostile to them. It’s not that simple.
most of the countries on the woops ! ( hou-hou) list
even an atheist would think twice about going to

any of the -stans, somalia eritrea and southern sudan

Is it not true that many of those people are living in countries where Christians openly persecute and jail those who they deem offensive to their faith?
sp, who and what are you talking about?
