Persecuted Christians
We hear an awful lot of guff about muslims suffering from hate-speech - now since 1st of Jan.a prisonable offence in Germany and spreading, - but who will speak up for the murder of thousands of Christians? Why are our politicians not saying more, (Nigel Farage excepted) , could it be that there are few votes to be gained from speaking out?

I'm simply saying that there is a whole Muslin political machine now within Europe! whining about how they are being victimised by "hate speech" and the political establishment is only too eager to pander to that monologue, when as close as in the middle east, Christians have been murdered in their thousands against a backdrop of comparative silence.
The priority of Europe should be to rescue Christian refugees from Muslim extremism, rather than welcoming Muslims who are actually only fleeing from one another's religious differences, and amongst whom are the perpetrators of this violence.

v_e, //Ichkeria has the brain to see your point, Khandro, but I don't think he has the will.//
Having quite recently conversed with Khandro on the subject of Islam I fear he, quite unwittingly, suffers from a similar affliction – although he could just be in denial. Hard to tell.
ichkeria, you’re mistaken. Khandro doesn’t loath Islam per se.

v_e & n. I find all the Abrahamic religions a bit like the curate's egg, but I don't 'loathe' any outright. The main reason I don't dismiss Islam in its entirety is that it contains some very good things, it upholds the rights of animals to kind treatment and justice. It says animals should not be abused or taken for granted, in several places in the Koran, a subject very close to my heart and not really covered in the bible.
A religion which has produced such beautiful calligraphy, architecture and poetry etc. cannot be dismissed entirely by me, but I can see that the atheist may conflate Islam with other religions and wish to reject them all together.
As you know, main great beef with Islam is that instead of staying where it belongs it wants to overrun my patch, - Europe, where it definitely doesn't belong.

Khandro - // I find all the Abrahamic religions a bit like the curate's egg, but I don't 'loathe' any outright. //
I would agree with that statement - if you deleted the word 'Abrahmic' - and just made it 'any' religions.

I can't speak for 'the atheist' since there is no such thing - merely a collection of individuals who don't subscribe to an organised religion - but speaking personally, I don't 'reject' religion, that's far too much like hard work, it simply doesn't exist for me, no 'rejection' required.

Who says Europe is 'your patch' and what makes you think you can dictate where religions do or do not belong?
The arrogance of fervent Christians marches on - we are extremely tolerant of everyone ... except we are Nimby's at heart, so let them stay up their own end of the pool.

hereIam; Nowhere in the Koran does it instruct anyone to hate dogs, - all sorts of people don't like dogs (and spiders and snakes) the Koran doesn't say you have to like every animal, but to respect the life of all animals and insects and not to be cruel to them, I think this comes from the Jains, Hindus and Buddhists, and doesn't feature much in the bible, where, when animals are mentioned it isn't about showing kindness, (though there is Proverbs 12:10). The Koran is also completely opposed to killing animals for sport, something many of the British have a penchant for.
naomi; Don't think I'm going to convert! I don't think anyone should get full marks for being considerate to the feelings and welfare animals, it should be the unquestioned norm for every civilised person.
