Labour have never chosen a female PM, yet the Tories have had two, both of which have been extensively criticised by Labour, can we take it from this that Labour are against the idea of placing a woman in charge of the country?

well if he has one - could always put it up for sale, "One unused red No 10 shirt- proceeds to go towards the deficit...'
AOG 11.15, diddums, does the thought of Jeremy wearing a shirt with Number 10 on upset you .???.
"Labour has a problem.....at least one of them, acts and looks like a male and prefers females as sexual partners......now could she qualify as a future female PM?"
It may come as a shock to SQAD but there are also lesbian Tory MPs and the current S of S for Education is in a same-sex relationship.

I guess that would depend upon which football team Jeremy Corbyn supports.
"current S of S for Education is in a same-sex relationship. "

And there's Ruth Davidson of course who shock, horror has been tipped for the leader's jersey :-)
Corby.

No shock at all, but as far as i am aware, none of them are PM contenders, which is what this thread is all about.
Ruth Davidson?
Not an MP, but many would say a conder for the Tory leadership (one day)
*contender
It could soon be 3-0 to the Tories in the female leader stakes
SQAD, why are you putting your emphasis on what like the woman look and their sexual preferences rather than their abilities?
Corbyloon.
Because those features and characteristics of a woman are important to me....my upbringing, the era into which i was born.
I am not asking other people to agree with me or even sympathise with my comments......it is just the way that i view life.
You may have different ideas.
Says it all " the era in which I was born", pity you can't be a bit more open minded sqad :-(
anne.....I have lived my life........my opinions are of little import.
Shouldn't we be discussing the qualities needed of a PM, rather than what goes in the underwear department ?
Labour have been in power for 17% of their existence, surely the gender of the leader is almost as irrelevant as the party itself.
I wonder what people were saying back in February 1975 ?

Especially the stuffed shirts in the Tory Party.
You are old enough ,mikey, tell us. I imagine it was exasperation at how your union buddies were running us into the ground.

In the ballot on Tuesday February 11 1975, Mrs Thatcher won even more decisively, gaining 146 votes to Whitelaw’s 79. (Prior and Howe had 19 each, and Peyton 11).

In later years Thatcher would freely admit that she was not a good Leader of the Opposition, but the breakdown of relations between the Labour Party and the unions, widespread disgust at the effects of public sector strikes and the sense that the government was impotent in the face of chaos created a backdrop that helped propel Mrs Thatcher into government.
It is perhaps an embarrasing irony to socialists and labourites generally that they are the main architects of Thatcherism, cheers mikey and co!
For what it's worth I agree with Sqad I too am from the era which decrees a certain type of woman
