There really is no point descending into "whataboutery", it's shallow and just makes false equivalencies. A young woman has now been killed, ostensibly over a statue. This question should have been put to bed when the council voted. It's their jurisdiction and their responsibility. A bluddy statue is not worth killing over. Also I just don't buy the idea...

Itchy....the trouble with Trump is that if its a new day, then it must be time for a new opinion !
Haha! You couldn't resist it! :o)
Trump yesterday gave a perfectly reasonable assessment of the situation - one group legally (they had a Licence) protesting about the removal of a statue and the re-naming of a park, conceding that they were joined by bad extremist elements, the extremist elements on the other side tried to prevent them using baseball bats and iron bars and a fracas ensued.

The maniac causing the car tragedy should be viewed separately to both causes.

He also pointed out that George Washington was a slave owner, are they now supposed to re-name the Capital of the US to satisfy pc bigots ?
//Thing is that in his determination to apportion blame equally he's drawing a false equivalence between Nazis, racists and bigots on the one hand, and those opposing Nazis, racists and bigots on the other. Of //

No, he's pointing out that Antifa, Black Lives Matter, United against Fascism etc. themselves the things they pretend to be against.
...are themselves...

Shameful or regrettable (depending on the reason for ignorance) that the "anti-Fascists" can't see this.
I wonder if Jim has a more rigorous definition of fascist than Mikey.

In this case I don't really think so.

Hey, Mikey. Tou're in excellent company.

Hey, Jim....

No, let's not go there.
Brwon shirt sticks plascard round professor's neck: "Enemy of the People", "Jew", "Communist".

Get out fast, Sir Tim. The young thugs are after you. One of them has got lipstick and a skirt.
Japan for all its historic faults still retains some civility.

(That's to Sir Tim)
very fine people among the neo-Nazis, apparently. That's good. Americans once died fighting Nazis, but the new, inclusive White House embraces them. Likewise Robert E Lee led an army against the US government, but he's welcome too.

Okay, Trump's been denounced by such leftwingers as McCain, Jeb Bush and Romney, but David Duke's praised him; so that's a balanced response, isn't it?

You're losing it here. Calm down, deep breaths, write coherently.
I think Jim has a readier wit than JNO.
so do I. None the less, you're gibbering.
does anyone have a URL/ref for the presidential news conference ?
so much better than Spicey dont you think

'these are alternative facts, take them if you want ...'

I liked the splitter (Kh I think) who posted - driving the car into the protesters is a different matter

at Nuremberg a defender could have said " yeah right - leaving the killing of the Jews and unrestricted aerial bombing which the allies did anyway -my client is not guilty of any war crimes at all !" - I wnder why he didnt run that defence - a real winner
// Japan for all its historic faults still retains some civility. //
god you have no idea how badly the FEPOWs were treated in captivity 1941-45.
Why is the car driver assumed to be in any way connected to the peaceful demonstrators?

Isn't the correct approach to examine the driver's mental health history?
I'm not, of course, trying to tell the police how to do their job, just arguing from analogy.
PP; //I liked the splitter (Kh I think) [yes, moi] who posted - driving the car into the protesters is a different matter.

How many of the 'statue protesters', even the 'bad elements', would you consider approve of death of that young woman and the injuries to all the others? Do you think they would wish in any way that such a monstrous act carried out by an undoubtedly deranged person should be associated with their objectives?

Yes, Nazism is after all a remarkably peaceful ideology which has nothing to do with violence....

There really is not much ambiguity here. The statue issue was controversial, but these people descended upon Charlottesville carrying torches, assault rifles and riot gear. They were chanting "jews will not replace us", making nazi salutes, and in some cases waving swastikas. And, surprise, surprise, one of them killed somebody and more of them beat up others. Why people are hellbent on making excuses for them is beyond me.

If you read enough posts, as I am sure you do, it shouldn't be beyond you!
I have, it's just people screeching BUT WHAT ABOUT THE LEFT over and over, as if that's a remotely insightful or interesting thing to say.
